Why you chose the name/meaning of the name: Well, since I'm not super creative, and I'm not a Google Translate hugger, I chose to name this equid by this name because her colors reminds me of this palomino dun paint mare (The horse was truly a horse of a different color). This mare was one of the project horses I'd been training, and she past away suddenly this last month from an unknown incident in the pasture. This equid, I believe, will give me something like a momento of her, and the fun times and not so fun times we shared.

Why you chose the name/meaning of the name: This was actually my grandmother's name. She was very close to me towards the end of her life. We were never really close until I decided to learn to sew. She went out and bought me a sewing machine and everything I needed. We were making my own outfit when she got sick. None of us thought anything of it,she was just sick. Well she got worse..and worse. At the time I was in the fifth grade and I made a paper where everyone signed it,telling her to get better. Soon she was bed-ridden. I went to visit her at the house and I broke down. She told me not to cry that she would get better.

The doctors diagnosed her with a rare cancer. It has no known cure as of right now. The only choices that she had was to have them slow it down or give her pain meds. They told us she had 6 months to live..she only lived about two weeks. In those few months I had become closer to my grandmother than I had my whole life. She means a lot to me.

They cremated her and we had a service at the house. I walked into her room and there on her bedside table was a picture of me,the note with the signatures,and a butterfly I made her when I was little. It broke my heart seeing those things. I wanted to lay in the bed and smell her scent. We went home and I cried the whole night. The next morning my mom walked in and handed me a ring. Years ago I had told my grandmother I liked that ring. She had given it to my mom for me to have when I got older.

Its safe to say that she was the rock of the family. And now our family is kind of being torn apart. As I write this I am crying. One for the promise she made; to get better. And for me not spending more time with her. In a way this equid reminds me of her. She looks like an equid with a strong spirit and determined mind. Just like my grandmother Zoe.
