Oh and here's a story that I made for another JBD but I didn't finish it in time before it closed, I hope it's okay that I'm using it here (I do have their permission to re-use the story ^^)
Hard paw pads hit the damp earth as Bluefeather thundered through the rocky forest. A giant black, lizard-like creature rampaged after her. It's scaly and spiked tail flowing powerfully behind it. Massive caves and mountains loomed above her as she came to an opening of a small cave. She squeezed inside as quickly as possible. Suddenly something caught her tail. Turning around, she saw her now blood red tail clutched between the creature’s strong jaws. The creature tugged roughly at her tail and managed to pull her out, Bluefeather’s claws still sunk into the damp dirt. Ears back and shivering, she slowly turned her head to see the red gaze of the creature trained on her. "Hello, my dear friend..." It whispered in a creepy yet calm voice. It moved its fore-claw across Bluefeather’s body and placed it sharply against her damp neck.
Bluefeather woke up after blacking out from shock. The creature was looming over her. Staring into his eyes, Bluefeather saw hollowness, loneliness and darkness inhabited inside of him. "I see you are awake." Bluefeather shivered after remembering that creepy voice that always scared her. "Follow me, or dire consequences will await you." Bluefeather nodded slowly. "Good...Now that I trust you, I can tell you my name. My name is Seroth." "Y-Your name is S-Seroth?" Bluefeather said, stuttering. "Yes, now we must get there before dawn." "Get where?" But Seroth had already padded quickly up the mound of pebbles in front of Bluefeather.
A full moon had risen after they had trudged through steep slopes, crumply mounds, and tough, rocky landscapes. "Can we please rest now?" Bluefeather asked desperately. "No" was the only answer. Bluefeather sighed and carried on walking. Suddenly, a sparrow placed itself quietly on Bluefeather’s shoulder. "You must run, run away! This creature will kill you!" He hissed urgently. "He will? Then what do I do?" "Run!" Bluefeather propelled herself away but was too late. Seroth had caught her. "I knew I couldn't trust you" He growled. Slipping his right fore-paw into a pocket-like thing, he pulled out a chain. He attached one end to his left back-paw, and the other end to Bluefeather’s left fore-paw. "Now, let's keep going." Seroth snarled. The sparrow sighed and flew off, twirling as it went.
They reached a small piece of land that held the ruins of a long-ago castle. Bluefeather gasped in amazement at the beautiful scenery. "Keep moving" Seroth growled. They reached the castle's entrance and they both padded inside. "Threllestall, I have found a new creature." A massive dragon-like creature padded toward him, a wide range of blues sealed on his scales. "You have done well Seroth, you may rest now." Seroth bowed his head and trotted away after taking of the chains. "A-are y-you Therelelelestall?" Bluefeather asked, full of fright. "Threllestall" He corrected her. "Now, follow me." Bluefeather slowly nodded and followed him into the different rooms.
They entered a clearing full of mythical animals. Bluefeather gasped in horror as she saw the extremely underweight creatures trapped in individual cages. A phoenix, dragon, pegasus, unicorn, and a little winged mouse. "Be quite!" Threllestall snarled. "Now, get in that cage." "No!" Bluefeather shouted. "I said, get in the cage now!" He grabbed Bluefeather’s tail and threw her into the cage, slamming it closed with his scaly tail.
It had been three days after Bluefeather and Seroth had met. She had gotten much thinner and was starting to lose hope of ever escaping this prison. Suddenly, a sparrow swiftly flew towards her, spreading its wings as it’s landed on the cage bars. It was the same sparrow that told her to escape from the creature! "Why are you here?" Bluefeather asked, her head pulled to one side. "You need to escape! They'll kill you!" It replied in a desperate voice. "Why? There's no point!" Bluefeather shouted back. "Yes there is! These creatures need you. If they are killed, the kredisions will harvest their powers and become extremely powerful. So powerful even to the extent of being unstoppable!" He breathed. "They're called kredisions?" Bluefeather asked. "Yes, now get out of here and rescue the others!" He spread his wings again and flew off screeching loudly as he went.
Bluefeather had spent the whole of last night awake, the horrible memory of the sparrow in her mind the whole time. Today was the examination day, where each creature would show its powers to the two kredisions. Suddenly her thoughts turned towards an approaching creature, Seroth. She quickly sat down and pretended to be petrified of him. "Today you will show me your strengths and weaknesses. All of them." He said solemnly. Bluefeather just nodded slowly. "Good" Seroth grinned. He raised his paw and un-locked the cage, opening it with an eerie creek. Quickly attaching one end of a thick chain to Bluefeather’s front, right leg, and the other end to his back, left leg.
Seroth slipped his leg out of the chain and attached it to a root of an oak tree. He then padded back into the castle ruins. This was Bluefeather’s chance. She spit onto the chain locked onto her leg hundreds of times, each time feeling horrible. After having a dry mouth and a soggy paw, Bluefeather finally managed to pull her paw out. She shook it vigorously and ran towards the hills as fast as she could. Suddenly she heard a loud growl. Her heart sank. Threllestall! She thought. Pushing her paws forward, she propelled herself faster up the hills. "Come back here!" Came a furious screech that seemed terrifyingly close. Bluefeather saw a pile of large rocks. She jumped in a cleft between two boulders and hid, keeping as silently as possible. She heard the thundering paws of Threllestall as he passed by. As time quickly progressed, the sound of paws came again, this time she could here annoyed grunting as Threllestall padded past. Finally! She thought.
For the next few days Bluefeather had travelled five miles to a small village, where she had climbed into houses and stolen their candy. She needed to be stronger to save the others and defeat the kredisions. After a long day of simply eating and sleeping, Bluefeather trudged back to the castle ruins. She checked both ways before going into the large room with the cages. The creatures suddenly poked their heads up in shock. "I'm here to free you!" She whispered. The creatures all tipped their heads to one side. "How?" The pegasus asked. "Simple" She replied. "Just copy me." She started thrashing her paws around and kicking with her hind legs, the creatures copying her perfectly. Suddenly some of the bars opened, others opening in the seconds later. "We're free!" The winged mouse squeaked. "Sshh!" The dragon hissed. Suddenly the evil roars of Threllestall and Seroth thundered across the walls, shooting through Bluefeather’s ears.
"You!" Seroth screamed. He threw himself onto Bluefeather and started trashing his claws on Bluefeather’s fur. She yapped in pain and shock as the claws dug into her flesh. Escaping his grip, Bluefeather slid her claws out and dug them into Seroth’s neck. The scales were tough but her claws and teeth were unbelievably strong and she managed to dig them into Seroth's stiff flesh, breaking his wind-pipe. Seroth let out one more painful howl before collapsing to the ground, his breath taken away from him. Bluefeather stared at Seroth's lifeless body. He's dead. He’s finally dead! Bluefeather thought. Threllestall had been watching Bluefeather Kill Seroth and now took his chance. He snuck up on Bluefeather from behind and jumped, his weight hitting Bluefeather like a bullet. Bluefeather struggled out from under Threllestall's body. Managing to only escape with a broken leg, Bluefeather limped as fast as she could towards a large cliff. The creatures all stared in shock as the fight went on. Threllestall charged after her. As soon as Bluefeather got to the edge of the cliff, she stopped, hoping that Threllestall would fall off, but she was out-witted. Threllestall charged at her, knocking her of the edge. The creatures all gasped in horror as she plummeted through the air. Threllestall tried to skid to a holt, but slid off the edge as well. He fell beside Bluefeather and they fought each other, sending painful blows as they fell. In the last moment, Threllestall shot past Bluefeather, and hit the floor before her. Bluefeather was thrown onto Threllestall's lifeless yet soft under belly, fortunately saving her life. However she did pass out.
Grunts, squeaks, and rustles woke Bluefeather up. As she slowly opened her eyes, a blurred image of the winged mouse welcomed her. "You're awake!" she squeaked. "Huh?" Bluefeather replied, still unsure of what was happening. "You passed out after falling really really really far down onto the ground while fighting Threllestall. We thought you died!" She suddenly remembered everything and her eyesight came back. "Yes, you're right" She said, trying to stand up, but failing badly and collapsing again in pain and shock. "Wha....?" She tried to say but the unicorn cantered up to her and silenced her gently. "You need to rest, our saviour." He smiled. Bluefeather closed her eyes again.
Bluefeather opened her eyes to see the pegasus looking at her. "You have awoken again. Stand up." She said gently. Bluefeather stood up and had expected it to hurt so she plummeted back to the floor. "Ouch! Wait, wha...? She was so confused, because her leg wasn't in pain anymore. The unicorn stepped forward. "I fixed your leg, it's not broken anymore." Now the dragon stood beside the unicorn. "You are home, my dear friend, and we must now leave. “Please don't!” Bluefeather complained, as if she was just a child. "I'm sorry, but we have to go, as we cannot withstand these conditions." The pegasus replied. "But we will always be in your dreams, our saviour." "Huh?" She asked, but the creatures had already spread their wings and flown of. A salty, yet single tear ran smoothly down her cheek as she stood on the edge of one of many hills that surrounded her territory, protecting her slightly, and watched the creatures, silhouetted against the night sky. But we will always be in your dreams. She thought. And I will always be in yours.
