square two wrote:prompt: rainy day! how does the rain affect your evacuating?drip, drip, drip..
as the rain began to fall, duet prepared for their excavation work to turn into a game of dodge-the-raindrops. for most goobies, rain would be a minor inconvenience at the least; an annoyance at most. however, for tiny goobs such as duet, the droplets can easily knock them over and fully drench them in the process. it certainly isn’t fun when you’re constantly falling into the dirt and getting all of your tools messy, but unfortunately it’s a situation out of their control.
despite this, duet has found ways to adapt and make the weather a little easier to manage. the most intuitive answer would be taking cover - many dig sites have umbrellas, and working behind large rocks is a great strategy as well. their favorite, though, relies on an odd skill of theirs: detecting shadows! they’ve gotten quite good at it thanks to the falling rain surrounding their friend raindrops, but regular-sized rain is definitely tougher in comparison. although it isn’t the best method for staying dry or being productive, it’s definitely the most fun and gives some variety to an otherwise straightforward day.
rain can also act as a signal for duet to take some time to rest; sometimes, they can get too caught up in the excitement of what they’re doing and start to lose track of time. depending on how much it’s raining, though, duet may choose to take a break to observe their surroundings as opposed to adding even more multitasking to their plate. square four wrote:prompt: looks like you’ll have to work overtime! is your goob prepared to dig at night?to duet, excavating at night is even more fun than in the day! it reminds them of foraging, one of their favorite hobbies, due to the peaceful atmosphere and exploration aspects. the similarities also mean that duet has a perfect idea of what extra tools to bring, such as flashlights, lanterns, and extra snacks. it’s also important for them to bring lights for their vest and hard hat, as their smallness and nighttime colors tend to unintentionally camouflage them within their surroundings… or scare other goobs by accident!
alongside the essentials, duet enjoys coming up with fun activities to brighten up everygoo’s moods as night falls. one of their most popular ideas is to work together with other archelogooists to plan a bonfire, complete with s’mores and ghost stories! they find it’s a great way to make tasks less lonely-seeming, and it also encourages each other to continue their productivity and try to get as much done as possible. it also allows everyone to share what they accomplished during the day, and make new discoveries even more exciting! overall, duet loves any chance they get to work at night! it provides a whole different experience, and it’s given them so many fond memories to cherish. Square 1 wrote:Painted Blue Tiger Lily was always a spontaneous goobie; going from place to place, job to job, and dabbling her paws into various careers no matter the type. And in her spontaneity she had managed to land a job at the esteemed Lore Library working as an archeologooist! An offer like this would certainly bring some entertainment, and even if she didn’t end up finding anything she could spend all day digging around in the ground like a true dirt lover.
She was too much of a rookie to be allowed into the cooler sites, so she just chose to stick with digging around some large pile of bones. It had the thrill of discovery without being as scary as the void, or as plain as digging around near the library itself so it was the perfect site for her!
In the first couple weeks things were mostly uneventful…
Maybe just a couple bones here and there, but she was surrounded by bones anyway so what’s the point!
Until she found it.

The Mask
It was perfect—beautiful—something she had never seen before
And despite it being her job… she couldn’t bear to part from it
It was as if she was mystified by the strange artifact.
Drawn in by its magical properties to possess and contain it in her grasp..
She doesn’t understand it
But it’s as if something is telling her to keep digging
To keep going until she finds something that even she doesn’t understand, something beyond her comprehension
So she keeps going, clocks into work everyday, ready
Ready to find whatever lies behind these grounds
And to uncover the secrets behind the mask!!

As soon as she got to her area it was dig, dig, dig, from there on out. Or so she thought!
Instead of finding the regular pieces of rock or lumps of nothing once returning back to her debris pile, she found a naughty little goole playing around in her things! Somehow the little goo-off had found its way into the site, but what was she to do about it? Could she report it to her boss, or maybe it would be best to pretend the little guy wasn’t even there? But no, that would be too much. The goole would probably be gone by the time she takes going to and from Arwen, and there was no way she could just leave it there due to the risk of the poor thing getting injured… So the next best course of action was to escort it out herself!!
She packed up whatever loose things she could, and made sure her area was clear enough that it wouldn’t leave a mess behind, before going back up and taking the goole somewhere safer. It took her a bit to get the goole to stop following her, but once she did the little bugger was safely dropped off somewhere far away from any part of the dig site and would cause no further problems for her or anyone else!

A1 - Progress check! What's your goob's experience been like so far?
Bubs hums a small hum as he is asked the question about his time in the dig site. Then he grins wide, sharp teeth on display.
"Bub like it. Bub dig big hole in dirt. Dirt fun while Reese busy."
He gives a small nod, as if he's just said the smartest thing in the world. To him, he might as well have.
"Bub also like finding dirty things. Stuff locked in dirt for Bubs to find! Like dirt box of mystery!"
From his tail goo he pulls out a few different rocks. They're nothing more than ordinary rocks but he shows them off regardless. They're covered in blue goo and multi coloured confetti.
"This my dirt finds!! Cool finds find Bubs lots. Bub show green boss. Green boss be happy."
He returns the items to his goo and grins wide.
"Bub have lots of fun at dirt hole. Favourite hole for Bubs."
B2 - It seems you've lost a tool or two. What do you do now?
"Tool?" Bub tilts his head to the side in confusion. "What tool? Bubs dig with paw and bubs not yet lose paw."
You clarify that you mean the tools he had been given at the start of the expedition. He looks at you confused yet again.
"Bubs not get tool? Bub meant to have diggy thing?"
He pauses then smiles. "It okay, see? Bubs teach other goobies how bubs use sharp paw pokies to dig dirt! No lost tool stop diggy dig!"
He's more ramped up now and digs twice as hard into the mud where he had been working, scraping away piles of dirt.
C3 - Rainy day! How does the rain effect your evacuating?
As it starts to rain outside and all the other goobies are busy evacuating away from the dig site, Bubs is still very happily digging away at the hole he has started to create in the ground. He is in too deep. Literally.
He is deep in his hole as everyone around him, save for a tiny few other goobies, leave and find somewhere sheltered away from the rain. He is busy looking for hidden treasures and mysterious artifacts! A little bit of sky water isn't going to deter him from getting his paws dirty.
Even as the rain comes down hard, bubs can be heard singing his hole digging song, happily unaware of the storm brewing outside his digging spot. All is good in his world.
D4 - Get ready for work! Draw your goob in archeologoo gear.
"Bubs not know what arc-e-oooo-leee-goo do but Bub found this cool hat to wear."
(Don't ask how he got his horns inside the hat. He's a clown not a physicist)
