The sunset's not gonna last forever.

She was determined to make it this time.
It seemed as if it were a curse that her magic would fluctuate based on the time of day; Waspbriar considered it rather useless that if she weren't out in the open air when it was dawn or dusk, she couldn't realize her full power.
Which was... a problem when their Clan was deep within the woods.

But she was determined this time to make it. There was the city she could look forward to, the closest place that was free from the looming trees at every side - the mist - the darkness. Still dark, yet close enough - and more open than the trees would ever be.

The cream tabby appeared at the city's edge, and she looked up towards the sky.


She wouldn't be late this time.

As the colors blended together - red, orange, yellow - covering her and the city in a warm light, she extended her paw.
As the flames burst from her claws, she grinned.

She was going to be late, wasn't she?
Yet again.
Always late.
Always thinking "oh, if I had just gotten there sooner!"
But that didn't change what had happened.
The emergency was in the mountain ranges. She jumped from boulder to boulder, herbs swinging in her mouth. She ignored the scrapes on her pads. She ignored the fire burning in her legs. She ignored her lungs screaming for air. She had to make it.
She couldn't lose another patient.
Not after last time.
But the terrain was unforgiving. Her petite structure lacked the strength to tackle the mountainous range head on.
But she was going to do her absolute best.
Jaws clamped firmly around the herbs, she finally spotted a group of three cats. She sprinted over to them, panting. She began to cover up the wounds on their pelt with cobwebs, not pausing to catch her breath or exchange pleasantries. They smiled weakly up at her.
Though they weren't guaranteed to be safe yet, she knew that she had reached them in time.
She wasn't late this time.
