Prompt;; Wolfpaw held the herbs in her mouth tightly. Her eyes were wide in fear and anguish. Rain pounded against her and the ground, her fur clung to her body as if trying to warm itself. The scene before her was horrific. Trees and branches everywhere and lots and lots of water. The path she had taken to find the herbs was completely and utterly flooded.

She growled in frustration through her teeth and herbs. There had to be another way past the flood, she just had to get back to camp with the herbs. Otherwise, Ravensong would surely die.

She paced up and down the flood for several long minutes, unable to find a way across without chancing the river. She glared at the emotionless unliving water. Wolfpaw was scared but angry, her friends and clan mattered way more than her fears though. The young cat took a deep breath and held it as she sprinted toward the water and flew straight into the rushing currents.

Her jaws were hot with pain and stiffness from clenching them so hard as she struggled to keep the herbs in her mouth and paddle at the same time. Her head bobbed in and out of the water and the flooded currents thrashed her around like a leaf in a tornado. Several times her body was thrown into rocks and broken tree limbs. Yet she clung on to the herbs and her strength until she reached the island in the middle of the river.

The river had grown wider now and Wolfpaw was drained of her energy. She dragged herself away from the water and let her jaws relax, dropping the herbs to the ground with a splosh. The apprentice looked toward the other side. She could make out the rocks where she was given her name and the large tree of Ebonystar's den. But it was all so far away. Too far even. Wolfpaw slumped to the ground and sighed. 'Now's not the time to sleep Wolfie. No matter how tired I must carry on!' Slowly and surely the apprentice picked up her bundle of herbs again and dragged her paws to the rushing water.

All she had to do was get to the other side. Even if it killed her. "For Howlclan!" She mewed breathily and weakly but with some effort once again braced the rapids. It was much harder this time than the first and Wolfpaw almost was swept too far away from the territory. But, she had made it to the other side, drenched and still dragging herself through the storm.

It's an experience Wolfpaw looks back on quite often. She learned to be determined and to be prepared when things go wrong. In the end, she was somewhat glad her path had been flooded and her only option was to brace the rapids because she has yet to have a harder experience to go through.

Following a leader who did not believe, they turned their backs on Starclan. So too, did they turn their backs on him, and no more would his remedies work on them, through no fault of his own. They refused to believe though, for the medicine had always worked, at least for his mentor, it had. There are none so blind, as those who refuse to see, and they could not see what forsaking their ancestors was doing to them, the monsters they were becoming. Respect the healer? Ha! More like revile. He could do nothing right, in their eyes. A healer who couldn't heal more than the very basics, because Starclan's blessed cures wouldn't work on the Clanless- the kittypets, loners, the forsaken? Who couldn't hunt, too busy trying to save them from themselves? He was worthless, but he wasn't. He gave them everything, until the only thing left to give was his very soul, but by then? He was through. As they had turned on him, he returned the favor. Going out to gather supplies, just... never returning. Abandoning his duties, before they could break him.

It wasn't easy, surviving in the wilds alone, but he endured as best he could. He did not expect the cougar, nor did he foresee the rockslide, and perhaps that would have been the end of it, the end of him, were it not for three warriors on patrol. They saved him, brought his unconscious form back to camp. They introduced themselves; Fireflight, Rainfall, Riverstar. Forgive him, if he made the mistake of thinking Riverhaze was the leader, and Rainstar the deputy. The clan had a thing about outsiders knowing. Who knew. He didn't, not then. Either way, they let him stay, told him he was welcome to join, but if he didn't wish to, then to at least heal up before leaving. He was useless, a burden, a stranger. They fed him, tended to him. The two highest ranking cats in the clan made time to check on him, make sure no one was bothering him. There was no medicine cat though, none. Not even an apprentice, just warriors and elders who had picked up bits and pieces from their previous healer, before the two-legs got her. They did their best. He appreciated it. He was still going to leave though, he was, just as soon as he was ready. They could be lying about their previous healer's fate, and he was tired, sick of being hurt. Maybe he was bitter, jaded. He had reason to be.


One of his saviors was rushed back to camp, grievously wounded.

He wasn't going to help. He wasn't.

But... He couldn't stand aside, watch and do nothing. Starclan chose him for a reason, no matter how far his path may have strayed over the moons, no matter how far his paws had carried him. His heart refused to turn away, and his tone was sharp as he barked out orders to cats not his own, expecting to be disobeyed, questioned. They didn't. They did the most surprising thing of all, and they listened. Felines hastened to grab the requested materials, some behemoth of a warrior helped hold Rainfall in place as he tended the wound. He put his heart and soul into helping her, yet in the end... It wasn't enough. Despite his best efforts, he failed her. His heart ached in mourning. She was gone. Except... She wasn't. A life was lost, one of nine.


He wanted to slap her, or cry. He almost did both.

One chance. They blow it, he's gone.

A trial Bramblefrost had to overcome was that between loyalty to his kin or his clan. His son, a young apprentice named Cobrapaw, was a corrupted cat from birth. Both of his parents refused to see that however, spoiling the young cat and causing his ambitious personality to become dangerous. However, this cat was young and ruthless. He spouted lies about his clan leader, Tadpolestar, at the time, calling her many names that TideClan warriors refused to use in normal day-to-day conversations and bringing up points in groups of warriors who disagreed with their leader, including the rebellious and vicious cat, Snow. Even after the she-cat was killed in a battle with Tadpolestar and StarClan made their presence know to the clan, Cobrapaw refused to let his beliefs go. Instead, he fought harder, getting physically violent with cats who disagreed with his opinions.

At first it started as training sessions getting a little too violent, but eventually, the young tom eventually started killing his clanmates and was discovered very quickly. He wasn't a sneaky cat.

His parents refused to believe it. Their only son couldn't be a murderous killer, but one-day Cobrapaw and his father, Bramblefrost, went hunting together and the young apprentice tried to kill his father. This is when Bramblefrost was tested for his loyalty. What would he choose?

Even though it hurt, the large tom killed his son, and in the process, lost the love and trust of his mate who eventually died to heartbreak not long after. It bothered Bramblefrost for moons, but eventually, he saw himself as a better cat for doing it. He knew what the best thing to do for his clan was, and he did it. He was a strong cat, he overcame his trial and proved himself to himself and his clanmates.
