        agent zero

      Name --
        savannii

      gender --
        male

What's with the purple paint --
it's tribal paint. like all the native tribal people of africa. he uses berries and a few other herbs to make the tribal paint. he is very familiar with a few of the old ways to make his tribal paint. the back-story with the tribal paint is to actually help him. like some of the tribal people of africa it's so hot down their they use different minerals and other materials to make a powdery like white paint. making distinctive markings on their faces and bodies. for him, it's kind of a custom. that ran through his family for generations and generations to come. it's one of his favorite things about him. the purple on his body is kind of like the skeleton of a body. the markings on his belly, like the rib-cage. and the rest of them, to show the bones.

      Explain bones/accessories --
he's one of those witch doctors. ones that conjure up magic and such from their cauldrons and jungle themed homes.
the bones were taken from the first victim i mean specimen. the skull was from the jaw of a african wild dog. although the canines and some of the other bones were ground up for some of his brews. his many, many varieties of brews. the bones on his ear, that were made like earrings were from the bones of small rodents that you'd find out in the african desert. the bones down his back, is from the spinal plates of the african wild dog and were from the same one with the face. the eye and the other charm on her tail told the story of his tale of being thrown out of his old home for being deemed crazy and a delinquent. his eyes were always like that, unnatural and something he couldn't control. they say that when they look into Savanii's eyes, you will go under a trance and be at his disposal. some say it is a curse, brought upon him because he was so different at birth. when really it's just something that he was born with. his family left him almost as soon as he was born and he was left to fend for himself. while he was walking in his long moments of despair he had these unusual dreams and flashbacks, the voices telling him that being a witch doctor was to be and meant for him. he soon listened to the voices, after a few months of denial and took up this foretold destiny. he became what he is now, a witch doctor and he is now, feared and loved by many people. the brew's he conjures up, were to help people and cure any ailments possible. making him a well known healer. he still continues to make brews almost daily and comes in to the villages once every few weeks.

Name:
Adero
(An African *presumably, nowhere is giving me an exact origin :c* name meaning 'She who creates life')

gender:
Female

What's with the purple paint?:
She just does it to try and look like her foster parent! Doesn't always work out great, but they both think it looks good on her, so she keeps it up as much as possible.

Explain bones/accessories:
Separated from her birth family when she was only a few weeks old, Adero was found by a Jellybean Dragon named Zdenek. She has only ever known xys influence, growing up right along the edge of the swamp among countless bones and skins-- Zdenek is a taxidermist after all, and has a hobby of collecting bones anyway. As Adero grew, she started expressing some interest in it too-- the bones were a little scary, true, but also... rather alluring. It was fascinating to see even big, terrifying creatures like an alligator were just those funny white sticks underneath, something even a little Hyena like herself could wear! The alligator bones made her feel... strong. Courageous, it didn't matter what kind of funny looks she got; how could she be afraid of anything when she was protected by something that could gobble up anyone or anything that scared her? And besides, it just helped her feel closer to Zdenek-- even if they were different creatures entirely, she loved xym and xe loved her, and they wouldn't want it any other way. Adero has almost never been seen without at least the skull mask and ear pieces, though she's actually got quite a bit more! Almost a whole 'suit' of them, but she only wears that for special occasions, when she's out bone hunting, or just particularly scared. Joining her foster parent out on bone hunts is perhaps her favorite activity-- not only is it an incredible amount of fun to find the rare, perfectly preserved ones... but there are so many broken ones to snack on as she goes! Unusually for her kind though, Adero tends not to devour souls, only as many as is strictly necessary-- she believes a creature's soul should be free to rejoin with... whatever might be out there, and trusts her instincts to know which ones might be well and truly done, or at least have their new purpose be her dinner.

Re: Hyenea #18

    Username: Spastic Tigress
    Name: Kuanzisha {koo - ahn - zee - shuh} ; Swahili. Means "initiate."
    Gender: Female
What's with the purple paint?: It's part of the traditional seance, a sort of initiation for her. Why purple? February being the month preceding her birth, she is painted with purple (as that is both February's birthstone and birthflower color) to demonstrate her separation from the days that have already past and her willingness to look only to those days yet to come. She is not painted with March's birth color(s) because that would represent a stubbornness to both the future and the past, while the purple shows that she shall recognize the past, and look forward to the future without dwelling on the now.
Explain bones/accessories: All part of the tradition, but it helps that everyone who goes through the initiation is a little whacked out anyways. These bones and other accessories have been passed down through the generations. This opportunity is presented only once at the end of the Hyenea that came before them -'s lifetime. In their old age, the Hyenea will pick from the most recent litter, a pup that will supersede them when they pass on, and secretly watch over the young Hyenea until the day they die. When they do finally pass on, the young Hyenea (now old enough to take on this responsibility) is taken through the traditional seance initiation that will rid them of evil spirits and open their minds the the worlds beyond. The color of the month prior to their own birthmonth will become something of their signature, any accessories they wear (aside from the traditional garb of bone that they are only to remove when in mourning or in celebration of a joining) are to be stained this color. Tongue, nose, and eyes seem to turn this color naturally through means of the seance, though no Hyenea but the initiate knows for certain just how the change occurs. The entirety of the initiation is unknown to all but the Hyenea that experience it, and they pledge never to tell a soul, but once all is said and done, they are said to have the power to see the future. What they tell is always truth, but how it may occur or whether the future changes is never up to them, and may change at any time; the charms on her tail are memoirs of events from the past she has foreseen that have not ended as happily as they could have.

The winner is Agent Zero!

I was looking for someone to find the pattern in the paint, and you explained the accessories very well.

I however was very torn, and also loved spastic tigress' entry... So I believe I will make them a runner up. It will also be a shaman kind of thing, but different colors and such.
