there's an urban legend that crows lead lost souls to the afterlife. this maru has a symbiotic relationship with them. being the grim reaper himself he has crow familiars who help guide the souls he must take. grim also just enjoys the presence of his corvid companions, they aren't much different in personality. he also very much enjoys having dozens of crows flying around him at a constant, he loves how cool it makes him look. (who wouldn't?)

when he must take a soul, he does so gently, leaving a crow for the soul to follow. he doesn't like sticking around, as though it is his job, it still leaves him feeling melancholy. but he knows his crows will take care of the lost spirits; they will lead them home.
