Radiant was born in the heart of the forest, far away from where any creature had ever roamed. Even forests grow lonely, sometimes, and her first sight was that of the tree spirits welcoming her home.
When she grew older, she started wandering closer to the cities. Her coloring made her quite the sight for local tourists. Rumors began spreading about the strange winged red horse that people could catch glimpses of out of the corner of their eyes. Of course, most people claimed it was a trick of the lights, but eventually a hunter went to the forest to prove what he was certain he had seen.
Radiant, cautious but not aware of the dangers of city people, found the hunter searching and approached him, curious. But when she stepped into view, it became clear the hunter was there for more dangerous reasons.
Radiant ran, and the hunter gave chase. The forest spirits, fearing for her life, listened to her pleas for safety and quickly conferred amongst themselves. To send her away would mean exiling her from the forest permanently, but to keep her there could bring her to her certain doom.
So, despite their wishes, the spirits sent her off, and she found herself transported somewhere else. Another place, far away from them, where creatures more like her walked.
Suddenly safe, but desperately alone, Radiant fell to the ground and cried. It seemed her destiny lay away from her old home, although she had no clue what to do or where to go. She let herself sob, then picked herself up, looking out to this new world.
