You wander through the arcade that seems to have popped up out of nowhere. The lights dazzle, flashing rhythmically to the beat of a faint song in the distance. There are so many things to do, you find it difficult to choose.
You come across a young bull seated at one of the machines, slamming it like it owes him something. That’s when you realize—it’s the Piano Tiles game. You stop, stunned, and watch as he hits each key with perfectly timed precision. When the song ends, he leans back and stretches. That’s when he notices you standing there.
“Oh, hey! My name’s Thistle. Are you okay? You’re just standing there with your mouth wide open.”
He chuckles, then turns back to the machine.
“I’m the undisputed king of Piano Tiles. Don’t even try to beat my score—nobody can!”
You can’t tell if he’s being arrogant or just joking, but now you’re compelled to prove him wrong—to put him in his place. Maybe that’s exactly what he wants, egging you on on purpose. Either way, you decide it’s worth a shot. Right?

Kashmir slowly approaches the upset heifer, ignoring the instinct to turn tail and run. You can't always judge based on appearance, after all! Not every cow chooses their facial expressions. Some are just born that way.

"Howdy! I can see you might need someone to listen to you right now?" Kashmir stumbled on her words, but got the point across quite clearly despite her southern drawl.

Not getting much of a response from the heifer, she persisted. "I understand if ya' want to be alone, but I was thinkin' it'd be easier to vent to someone. I can see other cows are just passin' by, and that probably hurts even more, am I right?" Kashmir spoke softer now, but you could still hear her funny way of talking.

Her persistence paid off- the heifer finally looked her way and nodded slowly, tears finally falling from her eyes. Kashmir wasn't necessarily happy about this situation, but to say she was upset would be wrong. No. She empathized with the heifer whose name she did not yet know. Being the cheerful cow she is, not a soul usually knows when she needs help behind that smile, judging her based on the happy face she puts on to mask the sorrow inside. Just like the cows judged this heifer, not reaching out despite seeing she was clearly upset, just because she had a mean look on her face! [235 Words]

Already feeling a bit nervous after her run-in with Thistle, Haruhi was unsure why she was about to throw herself in the ring with what could very well be another big personality. She'd originally just planned on slinking into the arcade, securing her position at the top of each scoreboard (of her favorite games, at least), and then dipping. Quickly. With MINIMAL interactions. It was foolproof. However, her plans of isolation had already been shattered, and the girl across the arcade looks seconds away from tears. In girl world, it would be treason to ignore someone who looked like they needed a friendly face.

With that, Haruhi steeled her resolve and waddled over. "Hi there, I'm Haruhi. We liked your vibe from across the arcade and- I was just wondering if everything was alright? I came to the arcade by myself and it looks like you did too, so maybe we could be friends, or at least play some games together? I promise I'm pretty good!" It was perfect. A not-too-prying question if the girl wanted to talk, friendly enough, AND she got it out without choking on her words. A huge win, in her book. Breathing out a huge sigh of relief at surviving the hardest part of her self imposed ordeal, Harui leaned back against the nearest arcade machine to hear out the mystery girl.

Divna absolutely hated standing still with a passion. It gave her wayyyy too much time to think, which was never good. Especially when she was supposed to be staying out of trouble. It was already making her twitchy, and her smile, usually something she could turn on like a light switch, wasn't cooperating at all. Which would be an issue if her usual posse showed any face. She scanned the arcade for something to do, someone to talk to, anything to redirect the buzzing in her body. That was when she noticed the heifer in the corner. Alone and closed off with an aura that said, "Don't talk to me unless you're ready for a fight." Divna's first instinct was to look away, pretend she hadn't seen her and go about her day. There were a handful easier folk to talk to around here somewhere. Just had to go and look.... But instead, she found herself walking over. Every step felt stiff, and she worried on if she was about to embarrass herself, or worse, bother someone who just didn’t want to be. Still, she stopped a few feet away and said, “Hey there. I’m Divna.”

Diva scrunches his nose uncomfortably at the sight of the angry girl. He takes a few steps towards her, but looks back at Thistle, to see if he sees her too.

“Hey mate…what’s going on with that chick over there?”, he tosses his long hair in her direction while he whispers.

When Thistle only offers him a shrug, biting his lip as he focuses on Imogen over his shoulder.

“That’s Imogen, she’s a regular around here but I’m not sure what’s got her in such a tizzy.”, he offers.

Diva sighs, warring with himself on whether he should run over and see if she’s ok.

“She looks like she’s seconds away from biting someone’s head off, I’m quite nervous that someone will be me if I’m not careful…”, Diva wipes his sweaty palms on his dark denim jeans. He was hesitating because if she knew or would later find out he was famous, how this interaction played out could very well entirely affect his future. He hated that every decision he made needed to be calculated to this extent. Loneliness was the part of show biz nobody wants to talk about. (191)

Eris has seen her fair share of heifers and bulls alike with very emotional reactions. To be frank, she doesn’t really want to deal with whatever is to come if she gets told off or if the heifer starts crying out of the blue. She chooses to leave the heifer be but they do lock eye contact for a moment. Eris makes a mental note to check back on her eventually.

On the other hand, the Arcade seems to be an interesting place that has many adventures and fun. She wandered around the arcade, watching buttermilks alike interact with the different games available. Maybe she’d dabble in one or two of they catch her attention.

She glanced at some playing pac-man cries of anguish follow as she watches the ghost chase after them or cries of victory and revenge as they attain a fruit or cleared the level. A laugh escaped her mouth as she watched. (156)

Aria does not believe in judging a book by its cover, but she does believe in not causing trouble. She's sure the other heifer is plenty nice, and she does look upset, so it'd be polite to go and check up on her.

But what if she's not? What if it's a ploy to get her guard down? Aria's mind circled with scenarios that would never come to fruition but the longer she considered them, the tighter her chest would become and the shallower her breathing went. What if the mean looking heifer decided to start trouble? What if they both got kicked out? Aria was having too much of a good time to be kicked out.

The ideas within her head slowly grew in detail as she found her knees going weak, a tremor wrecking over them. No, Aria simply could not will herself to move. Aria does not believe in judging a book by its cover, but she does believe in not causing trouble. She's sure the other heifer is plenty nice, and she does look upset, so it'd be polite to go and check up on her.

As time passed, the heifer had moved on. Aria could not. She was stuck. No matter how hard she tried, Aria was unable to will her legs to move. She thought about going for a walk, going to hang out with her friends, or even going to the cinema. However, no matter how hard she tried, her legs held her in place.

With some patience, she walked over to a game nearby. Aria leant on the wall for safety as she positioned herself in front of the machine. Her heart still beat loudly but Aria slowly let herself become immersed in the game, thoughts of disasters approaching slowly ebbed away with the tide of fear.

What was supposed to be one round turned into five which turned into ten. Then, Aria had spent the whole day at the arcade. The sun had set and the other occupants had petered out as the day aged. Aria, now feeling more herself, pocketed her tokens and made a promise to herself to make a return trip to trade them in, before slipping out the door and heading in the direction of home.

Miggy wasn’t too sure where her mom Erika had gotten off too, but she honestly wasn’t too concerned at the moment. She was just thrilled to be in an arcade filled with games and prizes galore! She had already spent a good portion of the morning doing some of the retro games as well as the claw machine, but she was ready to move on to something new. The notes of piano keys caused her ears to perk up, and Miggy went running through the arcade like the happy-go-lucky kid she is to investigate.

Miggy is greeted by Thistle, absolutely jamming out on a large set of piano tiles. In a very demanding tone, she tells Thistle that it’s her turn to try it out. After a couple of rounds, Miggy steps off of the oversized piano keys to lock eyes with a stranger across the way. Not even thinking twice, she rushes up to them, bragging “hey, I see you staring. I bet you won’t be able to beat my score! I challenge you to a game of piano tiles new friend!”
