mirror shines are not allowed, as kalon shines must be iridescent.

I'm new to these cool closed species and adoptable things, so how would you be able to adopt a Kalon?
welcome to the community! to adopt a kalon, click on one of the adoptables on the front page and see if the competition is open. in the main post, there will be details about the contest and how to win. each contest is different and each artist will judge based on different things, which will usually be detailed in the contest guidelines. most contests involve filling out a form, with the form with the best idea, art, or writing as the winner. it just depends on the specific adopt! if youre unsure of what to do with your forms, you can take a look at some finished competitions and see what the winning forms look like to get ideas.
runner ups are sometimes awarded, as well as honorable mentions, which can be collected and redeemed for custom adopts. in the main post of this thread, under the header image, there is a directory of links to the various kalon threads, such as the fanclub, nursery, and customs threads. i suggest taking a look at the fanclub to see what everyones up to! i hope you find something you like and i wish you luck in winning an adopt! if i didnt explain well enough you're free to pm me for more information.

Would you be able to pay them anyway, but ask them to discard the design, then hire someone else? Would you be allowed to tweak it/change it yourself?
I understand that hiring anyone to make your custom is a bit of a risk, and I’d do it myself if I had any skills aha, but there are much better artists out there than me and I’d love to have someone else make my custom. I’m just worried it won’t turn out as I hope.
you're not obligated to use the design, as this situation is between you and the artist. you'd still have to pay the artist if the design was commissioned, and you would have to get permission from the artist to tweak the design. if i were an artist in this situation, i would consider it polite to get a heads up about the design not being used, and i would also still ask for payment for the work i did. kalon staff cannot intervene if you and the artist have a disagreement, as it is not our jurisdiction since the design itself isn't technically a kalon until the myo is approved. i agree that it is quite a risk to have someone else design your myo! it's a good idea to communicate with the artist you are commissioning on how you feel about the design and their boundaries concerning revisions! many artists would be happy to tweak a design for you so that it turns out to be a design you love.
i hope these answers helped!
