What are some steps you can take to save coral reefs/sea animals?

"Uh...recycle?" Nalu asks with a tilt of her head. "I dunno, I've never really researched it." Enke gives her the stink-eye and the ginger heifer groans. "Guess I've got some reading to do," she mumbles on a sigh. Nalu hates reading. She moseys out of Enke's space to start her research, shoulders slumped in defeat.

The next morning Nalu is there before the door is unlocked. There are dark bags under her eyes and har hair doesn't look brushed. She's shivering like she had twelve cups of coffee and a case of Red Bull.

"Do you know how much overfishing is going on in our oceans? Bluefin tuna Grandbanks cod are overfished. Who needs to eat thay much fish? No one. EVEN leatherback turtles are caught along with them. That's insane. If people cut back on their seafood it could impact our oceans positively." Nalu whips out a rough looking notebooks, with scribbles all over the page. "Even dolphins are effected by overfishing. Dolphins. Who wants to eat a dolphin? Insane people. Check your tuna for the dolphin-safe seal, people, really." The ginger heifer continues to rant Enke's ear off about dolphins and overfishing until she has a caffeine crash and falls asleep on the linoleum floor.

Speaking on behalf of myself, and not as Penelope.
In my household, we have been able to eliminate most plastic wastes. We use water from the tap in reuse-able hard plastic water bottles or glass cups instead of buying plastic water bottles. We recycle our grocery bags or don't use them at all, (sometimes its necessary to transfer them) and try to make sure we aren't given straws at restaurants. While I know this isn't a lot, it's something. And that's more than a lot of people do these days, which is very disheartening. I want my children to be able to grown up in a green and healthy world like I did for most of my childhood. It's our responsibility as human beings to take care of the world we live in, and all of it's inhabitants, not just us. Mankind is selfish, and it will take a lot of re-learning behavior in order to start to mend what we have brutally broken.

What are some steps you can take to save coral reefs/sea animals?: Going to answer as a user instead of Milkshake but, what a lot of other people have said already honestly. Reduce the use of plastic, recycle more, all of that jazz. I mean it also goes without saying that you need to pick up after yourself and avoid leaving litter out for the water to just take up and away. I think it's also really handy that we don't take our oceans for granted. I know a lot of people tend to take many things for granted and it ends up bad. You really don't realize what's in front of you until it's gone and the saying rings true for many things, the ocean included.
So, seriously, be courteous of the waters and aquatic life and just appreciate those two things a bit more and maybe learn about some of the efforts about taking care of the ocean. It could go a long way!

I’ve personally taken a few steps towards reducing waste in my household, therefor reducing the amount of garbage that ends up in the ocean. As the issue has been drawn to my attention over the years, I’ve tried my best to help. As others mentioned, I’ve completely stopped using plastic bottles and silverware. I carry a metal water bottle with me at all times, and if I do decide to purchase a drink it’s something like a coffee or kombucha that’s in a reusable glass bottle. I’m trying my best to not use plastic straws, but I sometimes will habitually pick one up and put it in my drink. I’ve considered investing in some metal straws. I always pick up litter whenever I see any on the ground, though I definitely believe that there’s more that I can do. I should pay more attention to my recycling can, whenever I do end up with something that I can’t use, I’ll typically throw it away without any second thought when I’m busy or in a rush, but I should break that habit and be more mindful of my junk so that I don’t throw away things that can be recycled. Though I don’t live in a particularly coastal area, I could definitely take a trip some time to get involved in a beach cleanup!

β€œWell, I’d think that activities like this might help save coral reefs- if more and more people rehabilitate coral, that might help.” Jolene pondered the question allowed, looking at her tank as she answered Enke. β€œBut I’ve also heard a lot about reducing my β€˜carbon footprint’. So I think that’s something I could do myself? Hmm.” She tilted her head, deep in thought. β€œOh! I could also spend some time volunteering at other coral reef preservation organizations. I mean, I’m really enjoying helping out here, so it is definitely something I could see myself doing in the future!” She chuckled awkwardly, β€œI really hope my answer is good enough- I think these are definitely steps I can take to help save future reefs!”

What are some steps you can take to save coral reefs/sea animals?:

Pippin β€’ Eirwen β€’ Catherine

After participating in all of the events at the resort, all three of the girls were exhausted. Catherine noticed how determined Pippin and Eirwen were to make a difference in helping the environment, so being smart, she decided to talk to them about the things that they could do to make a difference in their everyday lives.

"Hey, can I talk to you guys for a second?" The three girls had been chilling on the couch watching whatever show happened to be on, not really showing much interest in it and playing on their phones instead, but their faces perked up upon hearing Catherine's voice.
"Sure Cath, what's up?" Eirwen replied, looking a bit concerned. No one wanted to talk unless something was wrong.
"Is anyone actually watching tv?" At Catherine's question, the girls both shrugged. "If we're going to help save the planet, we shouldn't waste electricity."
"Oh, you're right!" Pippin exclaimed, reaching for the remote quickly to turn it off. "That harms the planet. We should only have the tv on if we're paying attention to it."

"What else can we do to help the planet, Pippin?" Catherine asked, pretending for a moment that she had forgotten to test her friend's knowledge.
"Hm...for starters, we can recycle, right?" the girl responded, tilting her head to one side. "And I heard that people were figuring out where their products were coming from to make sure it was...what's the term......"
"Ethically sourced?" Eirwen added, and all three nodded.
"But what about corals or sea life specifically?" Catherine also asked. "Is there anything that we can do?"

Unsure, Pippin and Eirwen looked online.
"Not touch coral and keep a safe distance while scuba diving!" Pippin shouted, determined to be the first one with an answer. "The oils on your body can kill entire reefs!"
"Yeah. And you can pick up trash ear the shore and in the ocean. And don't litter," Eirwen added.
"Ooh, ooh, and we can not buy real coral souvenirs!!" Pippin shouted. "They're made of dead coral and it can damage the reefs to take coral away from them!"
"Spot on!" Catherine replied. "How about we have a little contest...whoever does the most to help out in the next week gets ice cream on me." Pippin's eyes lit up.
"Aw, no fair!" Eirwen replied. "Pippin's gonna win that. She always wins our competitions."
"You won't know until you try," Catherine replied, smiling slyly.

What are some steps you can take to save coral reefs/sea animals?

bluebell pondered the question.
β€œwell, the first thing we could do is reduce our use of plastic. the amount of plastic that ends up in the sea is so large nowadays, no amount of money in the world would be able to clean it all up. its extremely saddening... even if we just tried to buy our products based off how much waste is produced by them, and even just recycling your plastic if you can’t help buying it!”
bluebell looks over to azurina and closes her eyes. β€œi truly wish that someday, our impact will at least slowdown, because it will never be undid...”
enke has a slight smile. β€œbut at least we’re doing what we can for now. you helping azurina as much as you did is a huge step in saving our oceans, and world really. thank you bluebell.”
bluebell blushes, and nods. β€œi’m glad i could help. it’s really helped me think about what’s going on around us, and see what steps i can take to help even a tiny bit.”
the sun sets as the two sit in the sand, looking out into the sea.
β€œthank you enke.”

What are some steps you can take to save coral reefs/sea animals?

Oh, it's not very hard to list of a slew of things one can do to help save the coral reefs. In fact, it gets a lot easier to think of ways to help when you take into consideration that coral reefs are a part of the planet earth, and without the earth, no coral reefs! By that logic, we need to prioritize saving the earth in general. While it is extremely important for us to do our part in reducing our own emissions, it will not be enough if companies continue their unhealthy practices. Not only do these rich corporation heads have money, they have our future in the palms of their greedy hands! If we continue at a rate like this and trust that they will do the right thing, we will be in for a very unfortunate surprise.

Knowing this, we must do our best to hold everyone accountable, not just ourselves.

just as a small warning, this perhaps gets a little political, as preserving the planet often does
Speaking for myself more than Thalia here, but we're a fairly green household. We try to bike or walk everywhere we can and only use gasoline when we need to. We also, whenever possible, avoid companies that have a history of unsafe practices or have turned a cold shoulder to the way their product impacts the world around them. We also, whenever possible, try to avoid plastics. When that's difficult to do, we recycle religiously. Anything that can be recycled, is recycled. That being said, while it's certainly helpful to be environmentally conscious when it comes down to it, it's important to be aware that the blame lies less with the average person and more with large corporations and the millionaires that own them, either through waste or through exhaustive use of resources. The top 1% contributes far more to making our planet dangerous for the creatures that live on it. Voting for politicians and policies that help hold those people responsible is the most significant thing a person can do.

Honestly, we should cut back on the use for plastic, gasoline, and always, always recycle. the earth is being polluted by all the waste we throw out into the oceans. this waste is killing off innocent life and harming the earth. gasoline pollutes the air, making it dirty.
recycling is very important. it allows things to be turned into something useful, instead of more waste to pollute the earth. people just throw their cans into normal bins when there is a perfectly good recycling bin right next to it! just toss it another foot to the left!
people are using plastic bags instead of paper bags. this is incredibly harmful to the environment, as the bags can be swept into the ocean or be eaten by unsuspecting sea life. the switch to paper bags is simple. just ask for a paper bag instead of a plastic one at the store. often, stores will charge you 10 cents to use a plastic bag. this is just one step to help stop the use of plastic bags.
hopefully one day, what we are doing to our own planet, can be reversed.
