very small and rushed comic that makes no sense without the short story I drafted this morning before work, but also the story is very short and boring so be warned, oh and if you dont know my characters it will seem like Vermilion is a thief or something I guess lmao he's not

this is a draft, it is not good writing, Im not a writer, this was just for fun because I felt inspired for once, alright, here it is-

‘In pillars of light out of the soil, shrines to the new gods rose. As the ground beneath our feet trembled we looked on in awe at the clean white building that grew like the grapevines out of the light. Even the nobles could never have conjured something so spectacular out of nothing, even the old gods couldn't have made a light so pure. As the temple settled upon the hill where we stood it was as if it belonged, it had always been here.’
As he read the statement he chuckled to himself.
"Can't believe they kept these..." he mumbled, lazily flipping through a small stack of worn paper with similar statements.
"They are invaluable pieces of our religious history" a voice appeared behind him out of the shadows. "Few people knew the art of writing back then, statements came from our few literate witnesses" the temple monk continued.
"Oh sorry, I just..." Vermilion was sure the temple had been empty just a moment ago...
"And who might you be, stranger? We haven't seen dark elves in this area for hundreds of years and now I find one going through documents in our temple at night. Would you like some assistance in finding anything specific? Perhaps the exit?"
"No... I mean, uhm... I thought the temple was empty, I couldn't see anyone coming in and I just wanted to look at my- at the statements. From the first followers. That's all..."
This was bad, if the monk found out who he really was he'd be in big trouble with Rago, not to mention Evren. The monk eyed him with suspicion, he gestured to the eyepatch and the one gloved hand.
"And what might you be hiding in a temple? The Gods know all." He said before reaching out to grab Vermilion's right arm. Vermilion took a quick step back.
"Burns. Horrible, horrible burns. I am deeply ashamed." He was starting to sweat as his left hand inconspicuously reached into a hidden pocket in his cape. The monk, now irritated, made another attempt to grab him but before he had fully lifted his arm Vermilion threw the enchanted sand.
"LIGHT!" He commanded as he turned away from the dusty cloud he'd scattered and ran away towards the exit. He could tell the light spell had worked, each individual sand particle lit up, Jasmin is a genius. A scream could be heard from the monk as the blinding light appeared but Vermilion was already out of the temple and disappearing into the forest.

I felt like my previous response didnt quite do it y'know? so here's a more intense and comprehensive guide (I hope) on how I deal with lineart and what differences it makes compared to my old way of doing things.
Im counting the placement comparison part as exagerated movement, it makes the character more,, more?? if that makes sense? it's cartoony and goofy and makes it feel alive somehow??
with my old style I always saw lines as something to contain and restrict the coloring and shading in, I didnt want anything to spill. but now I think of the lines as a guide, they help me get the colors and shading where they need to be but there's no reason for it to restrict them or be airtight, the little gaps in my unclosed line will be finished with the coloring layer, sometimes colors spill a bit and it adds character.
the vivid light layers make the colors really pop! so I like to use it for shading, pick a bright color that goes well with the rest of your color scheme but still works as shading, this can be difficult if you're using alot of dark hues so remember that it's ok to just use a normal layer with lowered opacity (:
colored lines make such a difference! I've been doing this for a long time and Im still amazed at the difference it makes every time, it makes everything softer in such a nice way! I absolutely recommend this trick for anyone who's not already using it!
and finally, experiment! a lot!! try!!! everything!!!!
