A Ronin is essentially a Japanese Samurai for hire, or a mercenary, that will serve a Lord in exchange for money, status, and land from conquered neighboring clans, daimyo, etc.
"Taka"(鷹) translates as "Hawk", and "Mau"(舞う) is essentially "dance" or "to flutter about", so essentially his name translates roughly as "Samurai Mercenary Dancing Hawk" or "Samurai Mercenary Hawk Dance".
He is an Inugami fled from it's master, and the Katana handle that sits in his rope collar looks bladeless, however the blade will appear as if by magic when wielded by Ronin.
In case no one could tell, his tail is supposed to be tied together in the likeness of a Samurai's top-knot X3
The mask hanging off the right side of his head, though it cannot currently be seen, is a blue Hannya mask.
