Lauren paced up and down the sidewalk, occasionally checking her watch.
She growled every time she checked the time.
"Where is he?" she mumbled.
Raindrops patted on the sidewalk, along with her feet.
She paused and crossed her arms, rubbing them for warmth.
Akeelah shouted after her sister,
"Ya might need a jacket!"
She was in a hurry.
"No time!"
A huff of anger escaped her lips.
"No time," she mumbled to herself.
The sound of stomping steps approaching from behind caught her attention.
The small dragon turned to see a large blue figure running towards her.
"Lauren!" it shouted, waving.
"Ducky?" she whispered, squinting to see more clearly.
Sure enough, the happy blue dragon approached.
"It's raining!" he said, with a grin.
"You think I don't know that?" Lauren responded, rolling her eyes and raising a brow.
"Where have you been?" she said, in a somewhat disappointed tone.
"Getting you a surprise."
She examined the boy.
"What?"
He laughed and looked behind him.
Ducky brought himself beside Lauren and put a hand on her shoulder and pointed ahead.
"That."
Lauren looked where he was pointing.
She saw a green dragon walk calmly towards them
along with two jumping, happy children, hand in hand.
"Is that.." Lauren mumbled, pausing.
All three stood before them and Ducky walked next to the girl among the two kids.
"Yep," he said as he walked over.
He rested a hand on the girl's shoulder.
"My family."
Lauren stopped, wide eyed.
Ducky ruffled the little girl's hair.
"My baby girl."
"Hi!" she piped, waving excitedly.
He moved his hand to the little boy's head, patting it.
"And Sol, my baby boy."
The boy stuck his tongue out and giggled.
Lauren stood there, staring at them.
"... you, um," he laughed, "you ok, Lauren?"
He grinned.
A tear formed in her eye.
"They're... so... BEAUTIFUL," she finally shouted.
The four jumped and Ducky laughed.
"So did you really make dad a zombie?" Sol said, with excitement.
Lauren looked down at him then back to Ducky.
"You told him about that?"
Ducky nodded, with a grin.
"Ohhh, youuuu..."
She waved. "All of youuuuu are just..."
She pointed to Limonade. "She's so beauutifulll..."
Then once more waved to all of them.
"And so are the kids..."
Her glance turned towards Ducky's hat.
"You still have the hat."
A hand reached up to wipe her tear, and cover her mouth.
Ducky laughed, and nodded his head towards the restaurant.
"You wanna go in, or do you need a minute?"
"I'm gonna need a minute," she squeaked.
He smiled.
"Take all the time you need, mom."
She looked over, wide eyed, and squealed.
"YOU CALLED ME MOOOOMMMMMM."
The little girl skipped up and hugged Lauren.
"Don't cry, lady, it's ok!"
Sol turned back to his father.
"Way to go, Dad, you broke her."
