My two cents: if you put in your rules that you are open to overpaying for wishlist pets, be polite when turning down a trade. Just telling someone it's unfair is not helpful. Either offer a counter that you feel is more along the lines of what you meant by "overpay" or explain what you saw as 'unfair'.
Remembering which items were free or not, or which pets more valuable (and in the middle of a trade rarely do they have time to consult a list) is exceedingly difficult. If it's on a wish list assume its valuable to that person. Have a DTTF group if you have things that are worth more to you.
Better yet instead of using the word 'overpay ' come up with a number ie "5 duplicate items = common pet" "5 commons = 1 uncommon" the things offered are of value to the person making the trade and insulting them only creates bad feelings. And prevents future trades with that person and anyone with whom they are friends.
