ΰ΄± Ever get stuck on trying to come up with an Equestrian Roleplay Plot?
Here's a list of common ideas, themes, and experiences found in equestrian life!

If you have an idea that's not on here - feel free to post about it!
NOTE: If you have a UNIQUE idea that you DON'T want others to use but would like to discuss it - Make a note on your post that it is a UNIQUE idea and are not offering it for Public Use. Do understand that your idea may not be as unique as you think it is - unless you can prove the elements that are your sole creation.

Equestrian Roleplayers Guild Does Not Condone Plot Theft/Intellectual/Idea Theft! If you are caught replicating unique ideas, plagiarizing text, or otherwise found in violation - punishment will be dealt appropriately and if needed with the help of CS Staff.

Temperature below 99Β°F (37.2Β°C) - Usually fine, unless significantly below normal with no change in environment. Could be a sign of Shock or Hypothermia
Temperature exceeding 101.5Β°F (38.6Β°C) are concerning and a sign that the horse has a Fever - a response of the immune system to fight off infection. Could also be a sign of anhidrosis (the inability to produce sweat - self-cooling), or heatstroke.
An elevated heart rate of a resting horse is a sign of distress from pain, inflammation, blood loss or low blood pressure, heart problems, or respiratory issues. Stress, excitement, or exercise can also elevate heart rate - and it is necessary to evaluate for outside cause.
An elevated breathing rate is a sign of pain or respiratory distress. Listen for wheezing, coughing, labored breaths; if the breathing sounds wet with mucus discharge - the horse could have a respiratory infection.
Capillary Refill time taking longer than a couple seconds could indicate poor blood pressure, poor circulation, or dehydration.
The color of the Mucous Membrane (most readily used is the gums) at a glance shows how the circulatory system is doing (sufficient blood carrying oxygenated blood throughout the entire horse). The color should be a similar pink to the skin under your fingernails. A pale color could indicate blood loss, dehydration, anemia, blood loss, or infection. A yellow hue could indicate jaundice, decreased appetite, or even liver disease. Purple, Brick Red, or Grey colored gums indicate cardiovascular system distress and require immediate veterinarian attention.
If there is ever silence in the horse’s gut for a prolonged amount of time (a minute) - the horse is experiencing distress most likely in the form of colic. Faint tinkling sounds may indicate an infection or distress from colic. Decreased but not silent gut sounds could indicate dehydration. Increased gut sounds could be a sign of over-consumption of water (potentially due to electrolyte intake).

π™΄πš’πšŽπšœ + π™½πš˜πšœπšŽ - Cloudy, Discolored, Unable to fully Open, Gunky; Excessive Discharge (tearing), Colored Discharge (Thick, Yellow, Green, Red), Difficulty Breathing, Unusual Noises when Breathing

ΰ΄± What should I include in my Equestrian Roleplay Character Form?
▁▁▁Basic Equestrian Character Sheet Information:

π™·πšžπš–πšŠπš— π™΅πš˜πš›πš–

Code: Select all
Name: (Include First Name minimum; Last Name (helpful for organizing larger groups; Middle Name (if applicable, not necessary); any Nicknames
Age: Most RPs have suggested age ranges
Gender: Most are accepted in RPs (1x1 might be more specific) - questions, just ask on the rp you're interested in joining | talk with your rp partner | With group rps - something to keep in mind is the gender ratio; some owners will limit accepted genders to keep a balanced atmosphere
Sexuality: Helpful information to know for romantic character interaction
Appearance: Use an appropriate image that follows copyright laws (art theft is not allowed on CS and strictly enforced) or use a detailed written description to describe your character
Personality: This is a great start to fleshing out your character and it gives important details that other rpers will check base with when interacting with your character and forming relationships.
History: Is the character's quick biography - a snapshot into who the character was before the rp - should line up with the personality as well as give more insight into who the character is.
Animals: Being an Equestrian RP - be sure to include the character's horse(s) if applicable. Notice: Other animals/pets may be included but are not allowed to have a reference picture.
Discipline/Riding Style: What your character specializes in - if applicable
Riding Ability: Helpful information for most equestrian rps
These are the basics - add in details as you see fit (hair/eye color, tattoos & piercings, family, crush, relationships, job position, etc.)
Check out π™·πš˜πš  𝚝𝚘 πšŒπš›πšŽπšŠπšπšŽ 𝚊 πšπš˜πš•πšŽπš™πš•πšŠπš’ π™²πš‘πšŠπš›πšŠπšŒπšπšŽπš› for a more detailed look into character creation.

π™·πš˜πš›πšœπšŽ π™΅πš˜πš›πš–

Code: Select all
Show Name/Registered Name & Barn/Call Name: Full name and nickname for the horse
Age: Helpful to know if your horse is young, old, in its prime
Sex: Mare (female), Stallion (intact male), Gelding (castrated male)
Breed: Can be helpful to picture the type of horse your character is
Appearance: A reference image following CS image guidelines, and/or written detail of appearance; color, markings, height, etc.
Personality: Helps flesh out your character and gives other members a better understanding of the horse
History: Helps flesh out your character; Personality and History should reflect similarities
Training/Discipline: Helps flesh out your character - more detail into what the horse specialized in/knows
Rider/Owner: Some rps swap horse and rider pairings - it's helpful to claim or edit as applicable
It's fun to go into more detail of your character - figuring out what they like, dislike, are good at, and what they should work on, any offspring and/or their lineage, etc.. Note: extra images/links of anything more than the appearance is not allowed by CS rules - so while it might be fun to go on a tack finding spree, it's considered spam and unwelcome on the RP forum (including character storage).

ΰ΄± My Roleplay isn’t attracting any members - what should I do?
▁▁▁A great place to start is by reading through some Roleplay Guides; Both old and new roleplayers benefit from brushing up on guides and the rp rules. πšπš˜πš•πšŽπš™πš•πšŠπš’ πšπšžπš•πšŽπšœ ΰ΄± π™·πš’πš—πšπšœ & πšƒπš’πš™πšœ πšπš˜πš› πšπš˜πš•πšŽπš™πš•πšŠπš’πš’πš—πš ΰ΄± 𝙰 π™±πšŽπšπš’πš—πš—πšŽπš›'𝚜 π™Άπšžπš’πšπšŽ 𝚝𝚘 πšπš˜πš•πšŽπš™πš•πšŠπš’
▁▁▁Review your main Plot - do you have one? Is it too broad or vague? Is it too specialized or narrow? Are you trying to attract a certain type of character?

ΰ΄± My Roleplay is dying - what should I do?
▁▁▁Try opening up the scene with an inclusion post - use your characters to interact with characters that are alone.
▁▁▁Try incorporating a new scene - if the majority of the characters are in the barn, call together a lesson or riding session (trail ride or competition)
▁▁▁Use a discussion board to talk to your members about what’s going on - is it a holiday/break, are people feeling the setting is stale - invite ideas for revival, and be prepared to provide most of those ideas.

ΰ΄± My character isn’t being interacted with - what should I do?
▁▁▁Review your previous posts - have you kept them open to interaction, tried to involve other characters into your posts (notice what another character is doing, ask other characters questions or introduce your characters)? Is your character aloof or brusque when other characters try to interact with them?
▁▁▁Try softening your character up - if they have a hard time starting up a conversation, try putting them in the way of other characters (grab the door for someone, comment on someone’s horse, or have a klutzy moment and spill something).
▁▁▁Try having your character be in a setting closer to others - if your character is riding, ride in the same area as someone else and make comments in your post about them (even if it’s just noticing them perform a movement) - avoid heading out on trail rides by yourself (harder for others to catch up to you or bump into you), avoid being in areas harder to access - don’t go to your personal cabin and sit on the bed and expect someone to walk in when everyone else is in the barn area.
▁▁▁In the discussion thread - start a conversation about interacting with others, let the other members know you are interested and have a character open; try asking other users if they have a free character; review their characters and create potential relationships (friendship, romance, enemy, competitor).
▁▁▁Don’t wait for someone to rescue you - be proactive in your posts (open your character up to others and/or incorporate other characters in your posts) and be active in the discussion about making your character known - open; talk to others and invite them to interact with you.
