Also, okay I know you can't (C) specific designs but I just saw someone do the exact colors of Dinro and the leg designs. PLEASE DO NOT DO THAT!! It does tick me off just a little, come up with your own IDEAS BE CREATIVE.
WOLFIE. (Sorry for the caps but I just exploded a little.)

To a degree, you can. I'll quote TLKFAA:
"Abstract concepts cannot be copyrighted; you cannot copyright a character. The only way copyright law protects a character is if the character is part of a published work: art, fiction, online role-playing, etc. The character is a "derivative work" in this case, and protected under the copyright of the original work. The only way to protect a character directly is to register it legally as a trademark. This is why you should post a link to any published work where your character appears, to establish its status as a derivative work of something that is protected under copyright."

That is not neccessarily true. Chicken Smoothie does not tolerate art theft, and if you take someone's character and claim it as your own is art theft.

Wolfie: Under "derivative work" you could defend him as your copyright.

Patilly: Yes, that's true too. On Chicken Smoothie, it's considered theft and there are site penalties. But I would assume Chicken Smoothie doesn't have as much legal authority outside of the site itself as copyright law does, which is why I listed that instead. ;D
