"Mom! I'm going to be late for my Ceremony!" Teeto cried.
His mom swept her tongue over his ear. "You are not going outside until I see your fur clean."
Teeto sighed and swept his paw into a dangling, dusty spiderweb.
Outside, one of the elders looked to the moon. It was smudged and hung low in the sky.
"Tonight. That's when it'll happen. The prestined wolf will save us all."
Inside, Teeto's mother gave one last swipe to her pup's ear and they walked into the cloudy clearing.
The silver Alpha Wolf crouched low on the Highledge, ears and tail low.
The old elder was apparently telling him something.
"Wolves of Moonpack," The voice of the Alpha rose high into the night,
Everyone silenced and turned bright eyes on their Leader.
"Tonight, we gather here to call upon his pup."
Teeto stood, eyes shining. He gave his chest a modest lick.
"Starpack, I will be honored to name this pup, Teeto, an Apprentice. He shall train hard and strive to be a very good warrior."
Silence. Everyone knew the Prophesy. And Teeto was the enemy.
Or so they thought.
Teeto heard the silence. His mother's golden pelt brushe his as she bristled in anticipation to hear his Mentor.
"Starpack, I will be glad to take on this apprentice as my own."
Stunned, Teeto grinned as his new mentor stepped forward.
