Pack your bags and grab a snorkel! Range Trotters are going on an expedition, seeking out exotic new Sea Trotters wherever they might be hiding. Whether you prefer lounging along the Saltwater Coast, plunging deep in the Freshwater Lakes, or floating in a Brackish Inlet, there are sure to be surprises wherever you look.

Guide
1. This event will be running for three weeks, 06/21-07/12
2. All CS and Range Trotter rules apply to this event, no exceptions!
3. All adopts must be judged by 07/20
4. Trotters found during the event are not eligible for breeding until after the event has closed.
5. Please be patient with our artists! Summer is a busy time for everyone, so sit back and enjoy the ride :D
6. Due to Life, this event will be combining elements from our typical MerMay, Junicorn and Pride events. We anticipate some very fun designs resulting from this!

Range Trotters are the result of crossbreeding Orlov Trotters, Finnhorses, Welsh Cobs (section C & D) and Hanoverians. Later crosses of Quarter Horses, Paint and Appaloosas to gain color and to give a boost to their hardiness. With a height average of 13-15 hands, they're a hardy breed with characteristics for various disciplines.

Created for use as work, carriage and leisure riding horses originally, they now serve as long-distance range horses, such as work with Park Rangers and mounted officers.

Willing and eager personalities, most are quickly trained to be bombproof and therefore trusted mounts in all lines of work; some are being seen in local show jumping competitions, others are notably used in therapeutic sessions for their calm temperaments. Harness races and endurance trials are common for the breed, as they are able to sustain an extended trot without tire. Cross-Country competitions see some of the taller Trotters, but due to their cob lineage this is still uncommon.

Despite the variety of competitions and work these horses are being seen in, they are still famously skilled as endurance racers. Many competitors have chosen Range Trotters due to their tireless work ethic, as well as the ease in which they can be trained. Many have become champions in endurance trials, and they have quickly become a sought after breed for their natural ability.

Name: Emperor Stripe (EstrEstr/Estrestr)
Creator: Embergleam
Description: A marking based on the Emperor Tetra. Adds two stripes that run horizontally across a trotter’s body, usually starting at the muzzle and ending at the dock of their tail. The outer stripe is wide and paler than the body coat. The inner stripe is narrow, contained entirely within the outer stripe, and can be either black or darker than the body coat. The inner stripe can be ‘broken’, including starting further back than the muzzle, at artists’ discretion.

Name: Fire Pinnate (FbyFby/Fbyfby)
Creator: Embergleam
Description: A marking based on the firefish goby. Adds black edging around a trotter's croup, rear legs, and belly, as well as causing a black ombre effect on the tail. Homozygous carriers of this gene can occasionally display a pale lavender 'cap' forming an inverted T above and between their eyes before stretching back over their neck.

Name: Johanni Cichlid EbjcEbjc / Ebjcebjc
Creator: HowlingHooves
Description: Based on the Electric Blue Johanni Cichlid; Causes two blue stripes to be seen along the sides of the body. The top stripe is a full "oval" in that it fully connects all around the horse. The bottom stripe starts just behind the jaw, and meets under the dock of the tail.
Stripes may vary in size, but the separate two do not touch. They may be mixed sizes across individuals, as well as solid or broken.
The top stripe will always cover the upper eyelid, but will not fully cover the eye as it traverses the brow of the horse.
The ends of the horses' mane, tail and feathers may or may not be seen in the same blue as the striping as shown above.
Shades of blue can vary, but each individual will only present in one solid color, never a mixture of two different blues. Examples of acceptable blue shades can be located here!

Name: Peacock Cichlid | ObpcObpc / Obpcobpc
Creator: HowlingHooves
Description: Based on the Orange Blotch (OB) Peacock Cichlid; Heavy spotting of small to medium size, many bunched together to create a larger splotch.
On bases without Cream (Cr) or Pearl (prl), it will always be black. (ex. Black, Chestnut above)
On bases with Cream (Cr), the spotting will become a medium shade of blue .
On bases with Pearl (prl), the spotting will become a pastel shade of blue.
This gene does not affect the mane or tail. Spotting can be heavy or light, and some individuals have shown a sort of "glow" to the marking. (ie. usage of burn and dodge tools)
Shades of blue can vary, and as stated above individuals may have a "glow" effect that results in a darker and/or lighter mixture of the same shade for the spotting. Examples of acceptable blue shades can be located here!

Name: Achilles Tang | ActAct/Actact
Creator: HowlingHooves
Description: An orange marking on the side, hindquarters, spine and belly of the horse. Color can be a yellow-orange or red-orange, ranging in shade/tone.
Marking can affect the upper portion of the tail hairs, but does not fully color the hair. Some individuals' tails are not altered.

A crescent shaped marking appears on the hindquarters, size can range from just below the stifle to a smaller one starting at the point of the hip. It will curve up and then meet with the opposite side at the base of the tail, where it will create a solid or a broken stripe along the spine, and will stop at the withers. It does not affect the mane. A dorsal stripe is also at the sides of the belly on both sides, but this stripe will never touch the other.
A tapered spot is also present in the middle of the body, sizes can vary among individuals. The largest do not move further than the shoulder, and the tapered end never meets the crescent portion on the hindquarters. The tapered end of the spot may or may not be broken up into the spot itself, or the spot may be fully solid.
This marking can be seen over or under white markings.

Name: Lepomis (LepLep/Leplep)
Creator: Bruja
Description: A marking based on the Lepomis family of fish, specifically the Bluegill and the Pumpkinseed fishes. Both versions have a large black spot behind the jaw, with Bluegill adding a blue-grey line along the jaw and a soft red blush along the throat and Pumpkinseed adding streaks of bright blue to the face and a yellow blush along the bottom of the horse's neck and belly.

Name: Chum Salmon (brindle?)(ChumChum/Chumchum or +Chum)
Creator: Bruja
Description: This gene would create mottled barring along the bottom half of the horse, darker than the coat except over the barrel where it takes on a reddish hue. May add darker colored striping where the pattern meets the mane and/or tail.

Name: Coral Brindle (+Coral)
Creator: Bruja
Description: A brindle pattern replicating the look of brain corals, creating labyrinth-like pattern of angular lines. Limited to 50% or less of the total body.

Name: Mother Of Pearl (MopMop/Mopmop)
Creator: Bruja
Description: Adds a faint rainbow sheen to any white markings, very similar to the iridescence found inside some shells. No more than 15% opacity.

Name: Seashell (SeaSea/Seasea)
Creator: Bruja
Description: A white marking that creates bands of varying thicknesses and increasing widths apart to mimic the growth patterns found in most shells. Bands may be smooth or wavy, with the most concentration being on the hindquarters and no banding reaching the face.

Name: Amalthean (insert Pride dilution of choice) (+Amalthean)
Creator: Bruja
Description: Restricts the Pride dilution to the points of the horse, with a distinct pointed star on the forehead of the same color, and the eyes of the Trotter being some shade of the dilution. This can occur on any base coat.

Name: Red Bull (RbRb)
Creator: Bruja
Description: Creates a fiery-colored(Red, Orange, Yellow) cape of flame shaped spots along the horse's top line, never passing below the chest or belly. Tints the muzzle a matching shade.
