cleuds are a subspecies of canidae, characterized by their cloudy and star-covered necks. cleuds have been observed to appear in a huge variety of colors as well. their stars are seen to glow in lowlight and in the dark. the stars in their cloudy fur are embedded firmly into the cloud, only being able to be pulled off by using extreme force. the thickness of their cloud fur and amount of stars may be indicative of their health, but the increased contact with humans has led to specialized traits affecting this for aesthetic purposes. however, a cleud's star color will almost always match their eye color.

cleuds seem to behave similarly to wolves, being highly social but having complex social structures unique to the cleud species. cleuds live in packs, with anywhere from two to twenty or more in their numbers. they have typical canine communication - barking, growling, whimpering, and body language being vital to their social life. similar to other canines, their young are called pups. pups usually come in litters of two, with one pup or more than two being rarer.

despite it being unknown where they originated or how they evolved to possess their features, people have taken a strong liking to cleuds and have domesticated them to the point of having cleuds as household pets. people have started to selectively breed cleuds to have special traits that are enhanced or not seen from their wild type form.

any cleuds with no changes from normal traits are called standard or "wild type" cleuds.
cleud pack founders will always be wild types.

common:

longer body fur, shorter body fur, hair, visible claws, heterochromia, custom eye shine

uncommon:

stormy cloud fluff, custom tails, custom ears, longer teeth, more cloud fluff, custom pupil/iris shapes

rare:

snowy cloud fluff, less cloud fluff, custom star shape, two tails, altered height, permanently glowing stars

mythical:

three or more tails, rainbow cloud fluff, transparent cloud fluff

traits with no rarity:

expression changes, weight changes, accessories

- all CS rules apply to every interaction within the species
- since cleuds are a closed species, you may not create your own cleuds outside of special events.
- cleuds cannot be sold or purchased for any form of currency, including real world money, CS currency (pets/items/C$), or artwork
xxxxx- they may only be traded for other cleuds, gifted to one user, or readopted if the owner of the cleud decides
- there is no limit on how many cleuds can be owned by one user
- respect all fellow community members, including staff

- you may not change the cleud reference outside of adding accessories and changing the expression
- editing the lines without the use of an item or approval from the owner is prohibited
- do not remove signatures from references

- cleuds can be any sexual or romantic orientation and may have as many partners as they wish
- cleuds can breed with one or two other cleuds, as long as all owners consent, regardless of gender
- cleuds can breed up to twice in their lifespan, with an extra breeding slot being able to be purchased as an item
- a litter's number of pups is determined by a number roll between 1-50, resulting in:
xxxxx - a number between 1-5 being 1 pup
xxxxx - a number between 6-39 being 2 pups
xxxxx - a number between 40-45 being 3 pups
xxxxx - a number between 46-50 being 4 pups
- inces​tuous relationships or relationships involving adult cleuds and pups are prohibited
- you must wait 2 weeks after a litter has been completed by a nursery artist before breeding a cleud again
- you must wait 1 week after obtaining a cleud [via trade, gift, competition, or readopt] to breed them
- all nursery artists must post their slots publicly, you may not ask privately

- staff are expected to abide by all the same rules as community members
- there are different types of artists and staff members:
xxxxx - adoptable artist, nursery artist, growth artist
xxxxx - owner, moderator, and archivist
- staff can do work outside of their designated role with permission from the owner
- artists can hold any kind of competition for their adopts
- artists may not take compensation for any open adopts or nursery batches, but may take compensation for customs and growths
xxxxx - custom and growth compensation can only be CS currency [pets/items/C$] if discussed on-site
xxxxx - any off-site currency [dA points/USD] must be discussed off-site
- staff can receive one custom with traits up to uncommon upon hiring, with the potential to gain custom vouchers with activity
xxxxx - activity is defined for artists as 2 adopts, nursery batches, or growths per month
xxxxx - activity is defined for moderators/archivists on a case-by-case basis by the owner
- staff members receive a voucher at the end of every month
- every custom voucher a staff member receives is limited at a common, unless a staff member decides to keep their voucher and increases the rarity by one level with each month
xxxxx - an example: staff member receives one common voucher for month one, does not make a custom, receives another common voucher for month two, and can now combine them into an uncommon voucher
xxxxx - custom vouchers can stack until a rare level

- violating any of these rules can result in a strike, whether it be a staff member or community member
- three strikes results in a ban
- you will be informed by a staff member with each strike
- a ban means that users cannot breed their cleuds, interact with any of the cleud threads or discord, participate in cleud events or the community, adopt or try out for new cleuds, create customs, or grow, trade, and gift their cleuds

to claim your free pack founder, please mind all rules below and fill out the form!
you may only request one pack founder, ever.
you must wait for an artist to claim the request and they will finish it in a timely manner. the only thing you may suggest about the design is color palette and theme, otherwise an artist has the liberty to create whatever they wish. artists will try their best to meet your suggestions!
you may not request another founder after yours has been claimed by an artist. also, you may not request specific artists.
once the founder is posted, the artist will reach out with the information. once received, you should comment their name and gender to claim them. pack founders must be claimed within a month from the artist posting, otherwise they'll be readopted.

I would love to do transfers! I was considering how to do them with just me on the artist team so far, and I think having them open for anyone to make could be nice. It would require me approving the designs for accuracy and I would be happy to make some transfers, but what do you think about that?
