10 generation challenge with Mordekai
generation 0
generation 1
generation 2
generation 3
generation 4 - you are here!

these pups were fun to make, but unexpectedly rather tough! the blues and tans didn't look super good any way I tried to combine them and the blends were pretty funky, so I stuck with mostly colors that were on the parents' original palettes-- I still did my best to attempt to make them stand apart though! :'D COOLDOGOOO gets first pick of which pup they'd like to keep, then I will flip a coin on which of the other two advances to the next round of the challenge! >:3 I hope you like them!!
(also I'm so sorry if my notes are a scrambled mess I'm about to go to bed and I'm the eepy when I'm posting this)

pup 1 - left - dark blue husky - I took the shapes from my blue parent's back markings and simplified them to better match their tan parents' simpler marking scheme, then added some spotty markings to bring back in more of the blue parents' markings! I knew I had to have at least one simpler pup, so I tried my hand at that here! I got a little creative with paw markings inspired by their tan parents' but not exactly the same and had them on both sets of paws rather than just the back set! for this pup I made the dark blues their base, then brought in the tan parents' colors with that super cool blue mane and tail tuft! also, their eyes are the same tan as that parents' base coat, but it looks a lot more orange put against the blues as a contrast point! this pup also got some fun star spots (inspired by their blue parents' starry chest liquid) and a fluffy tuft on their head as kind of a mix between the tan parents' lack of hair edit and the blue parents' hair. I tried to make this one very fluffy also, like their blue parent, but I added the mane and tail from their tan parent too!

pup 2 - middle - starchaser - this pup has the same ears as their blue parent but angled more up instead of back, and it's surprising how much of a different personality they imply even with just a little different angle! this pup's tail is meant to be a mix between their parents, it's supposed to taper off into a point, as sort of a fluffy lizard tail? it's meant to be a kind of lion tail without a tuft (like their tan parent, but without the tuft) but I'm not sure how well it's conveying that. here again we and the mane (it was too fun not to add) -- and this lil guy got the funky capsule body situation too! again I went pretty heavy on the blues with this pup, but used less dark colors to match the color saturation/hue of their tan parent more, since their tan parent has softer/more middle tone colors. I got the green stripe pattern on their mane and tail from their blue parent, and the shapes of their body markings mostly from their tan parent! since this pup has a lot of aspects from the blue parent I tried to bring the tan parent back in more with marking shapes! I also tried to keep the light and dark color placement similar to the tan parent too. the green comes from the tan parents' super cool mane, but the other blues are more drawn from their blue parent.

pup 3 - right - fluffball - this pup has mostly colors taken from their tan parent, but the lighter blues in their tail are taken from the blue parent (though now I'm noticing it's hard to tell, whoops). I did add a darker tan so I could do the spotty layered marking their blue parent has-- since I relied heavily on the tan parent for colors, I went to the blue parent for markings-- though I also included the fun feet/paw markings from their tan parent and the back marking from them too. I gave this one hair like their blue parent and brought the funky blue and green stripes up to their hair, striping the colors through so they looked like different colored streaks! I tried to stripe it out more in the mane and tail too to make it look different from their original parents, and sort of again as a mix between the twos' different styles. This pup is SUPER fluffy!! I knew right away when I saw this pair that I wanted to do one pup with the blue parents' fluffy fur and the tan parents' fluffy mane-- so behold, I have done it! I like this pups' design a LOT but I'm not sure it's a very good breeding, since it's not a super smooth mesh of the two parents designs. It definitely looks Related to the parents, but the resemblance to the tan parent is a lil stronger than I had hoped.
