Fursona Entry for ghvst

Postby Kattishion » Thu Feb 09, 2023 2:36 am

I've been enjoying doing contest entries as warmups lately.
For this one I definitely saw, "rock candy" in the list of food themes and went from there. While going to pull up references I realized, "Wait, I have a lot of rock candy. Why don't I just go grab one?" It's easily a top 5 candy for me.
Fun fact! Rock candy is sucrose crystals "grown" through dissolving sugar in water at a high temperature and then cooling it down. Because the amount of sugar molecules that will dissolve in water is temperature dependent, and a cooler solution will hold less molecules, the sugar returns to a solid as the sugar-water mixture cools. The sucrose molecules will "grow" the crystals, so if you are attempting to make rock candy at home using a string try rolling the string in some sugar crystals before putting it in your mixture so that the crystals have a good starting point to grow off of!
Fun fact part 2: The specific shape of a rock candy / sugar crystal is called, "monoclinic".
