And the problem is that you don't know what you're after
So you put everything that you have into what you do
Hoping that one day maybe you don't have to feel like you're empty

I have nearly finished writing my book, which is strange to say. I never knew if I'd ever get past writing the first chapter. After spending the past 4 years thinking about these characters and this story, I feel quite sad. I'm not sure what I'll do with my free time after this summer when the editing is complete.
Looking back, I started drawing because of my book. I wanted to put what I saw in my mind on paper so that others could see it too. Even now, most of what I draw are characters and scenes from my book. What will I do when this is all over?

Gosh, I can relate so hard. I feel that way about my book now that I'm nearing the end. Just need to figure out how to end it, but it's such a sad thought.

Sounds like it'll be tough! You'll probably feel lost for a while, then maybe you'll start to come up with another idea and before you know it you're at it again. Or maybe you'll end up taking that time to discover a brand new hobby, something you maybe didn't realize you'd be into until you had the time to explore it. It's hard to say.

That's awesome that you've gotten so far, though! Definitely throw some kind of party when you get it though, make it an occasion in whatever way suits you. Even if it's bittersweet it'll be worth celebrating.

I hadn't considered the possibility of taking up new hobbies. I also never thought about celebrating the occasion of my book's completion. Maybe I'll buy half a dozen doughnuts to celebrate. :,)
