An Unexpected surprise-
This cat, constantly questioning everything all the time, feels most like themself around their partner, who has been through all of this as well. Their partner is the only one who stayed when the cat was at their lowest. They love their partner so much and don't know what they would do without them.
At this moment, they were both so glad they were together.

The two bounded towards the creek.
“I’m so glad I can spend this time with you!”
“Me too.”
They both grinned.
“Hey, how come you’re so quiet around everyone but me?”
The cat turned red. “Uh- well”
“I’m just messing with you. Don’t worry.”
They smiled and grew quiet.
They sat together, both leaning against the other to stay warm. There was a light snowfall, so their backs were dusted with snow. They watched the creek and listened to the sound of the water gurgling as it ran along. Eventually, one fell asleep. The other looked at them with surprise, then smiled. They were glad they had met this cat. They loved them so much. Before they had known it, they were both asleep. When they had woken up, they were both in a cave! They looked around and realized that it wasn’t a cave, but was in fact snow! They had completely forgotten that it was snowing, and now here they were! Panicked, they looked at each other and were immediately calmed. At least they were with each other. 2 minds were better than one! Immediately, they started to work, digging, but only in safe spots. If the snow collapsed on them, they were done for. Slowly but surely, they dug a small tunnel, barely big enough for an apprentice, to the top. After they had made it, they started widening the tunnel. They used the excess snow to help support the roof so it wouldn’t collapse. When they made it out, they were shocked at how deep the snow was.
“I’m so glad it’s you.” The cat said, thinking about all the time they’d spent together.
The other looked at them in surprise, then smiled. “Me too.”
Suddenly, they heard their names being called faintly. They knew it was a search patrol. They’d been gone all night and hadn’t told anybody where they were going. They had just disappeared without a trace. They looked at each other and smiled. They had completely forgotten about their “date”.
“This was amazing. We should do this again sometime.”
“Um, excuse me, we almost died!”
“Oh. Yeah. Right”
They started laughing.
“Maybe we should go back. It appears they’re really worried.”
“Eugh, we’re gonna get told off, though.”
“We deserve it. Hopefully we don't have to collect bile though.” Their partner made a weird face and they started laughing.
“Alright, let’s go!”

Once they got back to camp, they were immediately surrounded and bombarded with questions.
“Where were you?”
“Why were you gone all night?”
“Are you safe?”
“How did you survive?! The snow was taller than Big Rock! We barely made it! We only survived because we had a cover!”
They all grew quiet as Toad approached.
“You need to tell us where you go. We are unable to lose anyone right now. The entirety of Providence was afraid.”

“I’m sorry, Toad.”
“You better be. You have to collect things for our medicine cat. Shoo. Go ask what they need”
The partners looked at each other and sighed.
“Let’s go.”
