Heterochromia prompt:
when they are totally alone, or with close friends they express themselves freely all the time. Unfortunately they feel like they cannot outside of this safe zone do to the fear of judgement by others around them. Even their friends have admitted that they are unsure it would be okay for them to safely admit who and what they were to others they didn't know. Instead they bite their tongue and stay still when outside of the places of comfort. It was a long time before this cat learned to open up to themselves so opening up to others was going to take a whole lot longer.
Unknowingly they were not alone. Not counting the friends that loved them for who they were non-binaries are around the world in larger numbers then they could even imagine. Sure it wasn't nearly a majority, but it was more then our kitty even knew. Finding this out was so much of a shock they couldn't contain themselves they bolted out of their home to search for these individual with a desire. It was quickly squashed by cats who scared them.
Meeting these cats took a lot of time and effort. Sneaking around, trying to find the right places to meet in private. It wasn't like they were doing anything illegal, but in the end it felt like they weren't allowed to do what they were trying to do. They have been doing this since almost kittenhood. Then there was one wonderful day. A tall handsome cat approached. A prince from a far off land! He claimed he was transgender, and he was here to help. Not everyone is as brave as him, including our kitty here, but they admired the prince. Wanted to be like the prince, but no, they needed to find there own face.
The prince showed them a new light and shattered the darkness by protecting them from those who would try to push them down. With this they all learned to abandon sneaking around, and many publicly showed their faces around the town thanks to such a selfless act. Many looked up to this newcomer and changed there behavior towards pride members after meeting with the prince. His influence changed things so much it made it so much easier for everyone.
They chose to be themselves in honor for the prince, but wanted to show it in their own way. They wanted to fly! fly higher then anyone else and become the best cat they could be. They weren't going to fight for those in need in the same vein as the Prince but try to treat everyone the same, whether they were different or not. They were themselves now, they would always from this point on be nothing but who they were and never stray from it.
They would become a strong warrior able to provide for not only there family but others families. They left the town and began their own journey not only to find who they were but to find a new home where they were accepted without the influence of someone with power. They eventually found this home, a place they can call their own.

As I shifted uncomfortably in my den, I heard a sharp noise that made me jolt upright and head towards the entrance. The light of the day had barely seeped over the hillsides. The forest was thick with restlessness and a stir was ringing in the air. I creeped out slowly, attempting to be as careful as I could in the dawn's silence. The crunching of the fallen leaves of a previous season made it troubling to walk onward. Each wrong step being an alarm for anyone close enough to hear. None the less nothing seemed to be warned of my approach. I walked silently among the clan path, and around the dens towards the sound of the crashing noise that woke me.
A strong sent filled my nostrils and I hunched backwards in fear. I wasn't going anywhere near that smell no matter what. No matter what unless- A kitten. I rushed to the shrubbery closest to the scene to make sure the creature hadn't entered camp. Ahead of me over the bush was a bright flash of red. A fox, no, a different kind of beast of red fur- an enemy cat. What were they doing so close to the camp!? My first thought was to go and fetch the leader, or a warrior of higher status then my own. It wouldn't be good to attack and not have back up if I failed. What would be the reason to attack them? were they causing-
A squeal came from over the hedge, where the red cat stood. NO, they did have a kitten. I leaped forward thoughts swirling in my mind. I will not let this feline take one of our own. I may have not joined not to long ago but this is my family, my new home. Claws stretched out a let out a yowl large and proud, and saw the stray lift it's head up at me. A bell rang around their neck, and I landed hard on them. My claws wrapped around their sides and I bellowed a sharp hiss.
A fight ensued, and the world blurred many different colors. I could feel my claws gripping the fur of the enemy cat real tight. The kitten was wailing in fear. I wanted to assure it's safety but didn't have the moment to breath. I was going to bring this cat in for the trouble it caused, and they will pay for the trouble. I will save this kitten in trouble no matter what scars I end up with. I felt my ear tear, and pain on my back leg. I bolted back, I was losing.
A large cat leaped over head and I was in awe. they were mostly white, and very familiar. TagetsePetulia, leader of the warriors and a strong cat in general. I couldn't stop staring at the wishing tail, the flicking ears as he barked loudly at the intruder. "WHO are you?!"
The red cat coward in pain, and I took the moment to help the kitten while Tagetse did his job. I was in pain, but it wasn't going to stop me from saving a kitten in need. I approached them slowly, and quietly, whispering and purring to try and calm them down. The kitten didn't look familiar, but I didn't want to leave them here so I took the kitten and left the other two to do what was needed.
Later I found out the cat was trying to give the kitten to our clan to save them from a frightening future with an evil two-leg. The leader accepted the request, and I felt bad for attacking them, but was to late to apologize. In return I promised to protect this kitten from future harm.
