These possum-sized friends are most well known for spending their time staring at the moon. The majority of the species is nocturnal, and seem to enjoy the warm glow of the moon similar to how humans like to stare at fire! They have very strong tails that they use to hold themself in trees and sturdy themself on thin walls or ledges. They are most often seen rummaging through trashcans looking for their next meal, or found on the edge of forests in a warm burrow they dig under roots of trees.

Rules:
Moontails can not be created without permission
Moontails can be resold, gifted, or traded for any currency or character type, no additional art needed.
Moontails can be transferred out of the species with permission from the species owner
Users without permission may not edit/modify the original reference of a Moontail
Only users with permission may add unique edits or traits to a Moontail
If you're added to the main thread, you have permission
No moontail can have more then 3 'edits'
unique colors or markings are not considered edits, aka pibald, albino, heterochromia, etc are not 'edits'
expression changes are not considered edits.
there are no limits or rarities to edits

What makes Moontails a semi-open species?
every week 12 moontail participants receive a myo that they must use within that week! if they use the myo, then they receive a moontail- however if they don't use their myo before then, they lose access to the thread and will have to wait until they get another myo! additionally, a lot of our events are based on receiving myos that have a limited amount of time to be used, and making moontails for yourself!

How do i get a Moontail with edits/traits?
Moontails with unique features, or "edited moontail" are special! they can only be made by the people added to the main thread! the people added to the main thread can make as many edited moontail as they'd like, and even keep them all for themself! if one of these people are kind enough to adopt or sell an edited moontail out to the public, the user will most likely describe what you need to do in order to adopt one out, through the thread that you find the moontail on!
