My first randomized geno was pretty boring with the Kky, but I tried to make her stand out. This is also my first time trying out for an artist position. I am pretty comfortable with dog coat genetics, but am still getting used to Oekaki and actually coloring the coats.

Knowledge of dog genetics is definitely helpful when you’re starting out! As far as coats go, black dogs are pretty easy to do but also come with the unique challenge of trying to give them depth so they don’t look like a void xD

You’re spot on with the lightening around the chest and belly, you could even darken the ears, tail top and spine a tad, and barely lighten the underside of the tail and shoulder fluff to give the illusion of the fading that happens on black fluffy dogs occasionally!
