Genetic and Rarity List

Bases - > Black (Black Nose) AA-Aa, Red (Black Nose) aa/BB-Bb
Dilutions - > Blue (Black Nose) Dd, Liver (Liver Nose) Dd
Double Dilutions - > Silver (Dark Grey Nose) DD, Cream (Pink Nose) DD

Ex; Aa/Bb/Dd (Blue), aa/BB/dd (Red), aa/Bb/DD (Cream)

----

Marking rarities are based on creation rate, not breeding rates. This is how common it would be to find them spawning in the wild (foundations created by artists), not how commonly the markings would appear in breedings. Base colors and dilutions are all common, double dilutions are uncommon.

Unlike canine genetics, their genos are written out showing on the markings/colors they have. If a geno is written in lowercase, that means that they carry for that marking and could pass it on if bred to another epher that also carries that gene. For example, an epher with yy carries for minimal saddle, and could pass on minimal saddle if bred to another yy. There is a 50% chance of any genes that do not pass to appear as carrier genes, meaning the genotypes will become longer and more convoluted with each generation. It's possible to create very wild looks this way, as every single marking can stack upon each other over and over.

Painted [Unnatural Colors] (Uncommon)
Dual-Coat Chimera (Rare)

-----

Body Types
Standard (Common)

Rex (Rare) [Rex x Standard or Longhair = 25% Rex, 75% Standard or Longhair)
Dwarf (Very Rare) [Standard x Dwarf = 15% Dwarf, 85% Standard]

-----

Mist Colors

Cool Tones [Blues, Greens, Purples] (Common)
Warm Tones [Reds, Oranges, Yellows] (Uncommon)
Black or White (Rare)
Multi-Tone (Very Rare)

Mist can have multiple colors within the cool tones and still be common, or multiple colors within the warm tones and still be uncommon, but once you mix cool tones and warm tones it becomes a very rare multi-tone
Ex: Purple, blue, teal, and green - common, but blue and red - very rare

Mist shapes/patterns have no genetic cause or rarity and are randomly chosen

Bases & Dilutions

Postby ShadyBro » Mon Dec 06, 2021 7:18 am

Ephers' have two base coat colors, black or red. The dilution gene affects the tones of these base colors and lightens them to the diluted versions, blue and grey for black or liver and cream for red. These colors have a sliding scale for their shades as they can appear lighter or darker depending on the individual. Because some of the colors can look quite similar, it's important to note their nose/paw colorations to determine what dilutions they may or may not have visually. Sometimes an epher's mist colors may color-up their nails, webbing, or paw pads but their noses will always remain true to the base coat color.

Specialty Mutations

Postby ShadyBro » Mon Dec 06, 2021 7:20 am

Common Specialty Mutations

Image
Greying
Causes grey flecking around muzzle and other extremities. Causes any black markings to lighten. Cause can grey dappling effects on double dilute bases. Does not overlap white markings.

Image
Somatic Black
Creates patches or sections of black at random. Overlaps all other markings.

Image
Vitiligo
Creates chunky white spotting over various parts of the body. Commonly affects the spine area more heavily than the rest of the body. May include faded white around it. Overlaps all other markings.

Uncommon Specialty Mutations

Image
Glow
Creates random marks, often spotting or steaks, to glow. Glow always matches the mist color. Overlaps all other markings.

Image
Painted
Creates a fullbody coat design of unnatural colors and/or markings. This completely covers whatever coat is underneath.

Rare Specialty Mutations

Image
Duel Chimera
Creates a mixture of two entirely different coats, both with their own unique genotype.
