Welcome, welcome! We've been expecting you. Well, the Ephers have at least. They've been searching, you see, for someone just like you. Yes you! Long ago, these mystical beasts flourished on this planet, and spent their energy saving lives of countless creatures from the perilous wash. Over time however, they've dwindled. Imprudent humans, of course, are to fault, with their disgusting pollution. Poor creatures ran themselves ragged, but it was simply too much. Now, with so few left, they are rather dead inside themselves. Spirits, of a sort, I suppose. Ever still they pour whats left of themselves into saving others. Selfless creatures they are. Not to help the living though, no no. Spirits. Yes, the poor spirits! Ephers care for the lost and forgotten, those that loose their lives here in the murky depths. They have a special bond with the dead whose lungs are damp and sodden. They still need saving too after all. With eyes and mouths full of lost souls, Ephers carry them to the beyond, where death herself welcomes them home. Without these beauties, those souls would forever float aimlessly within this world. You must see how important their job is, yes? Good, good! As they need your help. Yes you! They cannot do these tasks alone, no no. They need a bond mate. A living soul that can care for them and breathe life into their physical forms. Else they too will fade away, forever left to float alone..
