Welcome to Direwood Racers Adoption Center
Discord | Main Thread | Breeding Center | Custom Imports | Archives | Artist SearchWelcome to Direwood Racers. We are an organization that specializes in rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of the rare and beloved species - Echobi. These creatures tend to be just under the size of a thoroughbred horse but have very canine-like features. They were originally bred in the old days to be used for racing, herding, and guard work, but now that we have a better understanding of their gentle and intelligent nature we encourage everyone to treat them as beloved companions. That being said, they're still very energetic working animals - so playful races and games are very important to keep them stimulated! Echobis can be seen in many different colors and patterns, usually similar to that of horses, but can also be bred to have more canine based genetics. They're often seen with dog-like base coats and equine-like white patterns, but all of them are rather unique. Some even show unnatural colored 'painted' markings, which are a unique color mutation to each individual and cannot be passed down. Unfortunately due to the way they were originally bred, these beautiful beasts can also be highly aggressive creatures if not trained properly, and can be very dangerous towards people, which is why they require very strict and diligent training. They have a diet of raw meat and are recommended to be fed by hand to strengthen bonds, but will also forage in fields for weeds such as clovers, dandelion greens, and various grasses. Echobi pups stand at about ten hands tall at birth, and will grow into their adult size of around fourteen to sixteen hands tall in under six months despite their extremely long lifespan. If you're up for the challenge - we're here to help. Direwood’s mission is to improve and spread the excitement of Echobis to the community, so we hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

General Rules
1. Be Kind to everyone. If you don’t win a adopt, there will be more opportunities to do so.
2. Respect the staff and each other. Always spread kindness when you can!
3. Please do not beg, whine, or complain. If there is a problem, we're always here to have a respectful conversation.
4. Do not bump threads continuously - if its more than seven days past the end date, it would be best to kindly message the artist to remind them.
5. Do not ask for a position as guest artist or artist. We will have an artist competition up for you to try out, and if you want advice or critiques just let us know!
6. You are allowed to own as many as you want within reason. Hoarding is not encouraged with this species, as we want each of them to receive a bit more attention.
7. Do not make your own custom or anything of the sort - these are not an open species!
8. Do not claim this species as your own or alter it in any way to make it your own. Plagiarism will be reported to CS moderators.
9. You must be registered for at least a month on Chickensmoothie with at least 50 posts. I'll be lenient on this with new members if they ask for help!
10. If you leave CS, your Echobis can be taken with you but must not be made into anything else, these cannot be your fursonas etc. If you wish to have them readopted to active CS members just PM me for help.
11. If you want to rehome your echobi to a specific user, you must post on their page stating who the new owner is and send a message to our archivist notifying of the ownership change.
12. You may adopt one echobi every two days/forty eight hours. Please give other members a chance to adopt.
13. You may not adopt another free echobi until the previous echobi has at least one training prompt complete.
Breeding Rules
1. Only natural pairings of male x female are allowed. Any gender mated pairs are allowed for development purposes.
2. No interbreeding or incestual relations are allowed. Be sure to keep track of your family lines. If created pups are found to be inbred due to owners not double checking the lineage, they and their parents will be sterilized.
3. V1, V2, & V3 echobis are all still breedable across all previous versions, however they are limited to three breeding slots from this point onward.
4. V4 echobis have ten breeding slots each.
5. Echobis can have one or two pups per breeding. If two pups are produced from a breeding, it only counts toward one breeding slot. Litter number is randomized by the breeding artist.
6. Male echobis have a breeding cooldown of three days. Female echobis have a breeding cooldown of seven days.
7. There are no lethal pairing genes (for example, overos x overos or double merles are perfectly fine).
8. Realistic genetics can be utilized if the breeding artist desires to do so, but it is not required.
9. Painter markings cannot pass to the pups, but pups whose parents both have painters markings will present with their own unique painter marking with non-inherited pattern/color. This is a recessive gene - both parents must have a painter mark for pups to have one.
10. Pups will grow after seven days, unless the user requests an insta-growth upon posting their breeding form (10C$).
11. Created pups will be breedable seven days after creation date regardless of whether they were insta-grown or not.
12. Pups will appear more diluted in coloration than their parents. Colors and patterns, especially spots, may change in amount or location on the body when they are older. Some may even be born purely solid and change later on depending on their parent's color (for example, dalmation based pups will be pure white and gain spots later, or greyed horse designs may be born black and gain their dappled grey later)
13. Unless an insta-growth is requested, users can request a transparent puppy image to keep after the adult version is revealed.
14. Puppies must be claimed by the appropriate owners within seven days of being posted. The user who posted the form initially must confirm the claim if the puppies are being gifted to another user.
15. Puppies left unclaimed for seven days after the breeding artist has sent a reminder PM to the user who posted the form will be adopted out publicly.
16. Payment for breedings, if there is any required by the breeding artist, must be sent as soon as the posted form is accepted. The breeding will not start nor be posted until payment is sent.
17. Both parents must have at least one completed training prompt. They do not have to be fully trained. This applies to V1 & V4 echobis. V2 & V3 do not require training.
18. You must have a stable page listed in the archive in order to breed. Please contact our archivist to have your kennel page added.
Training Rules
These rules only apply to V4 echobis.
1. Echobis do not require full training, but you must complete at least one prompt in order to adopt another free echobi or to breed individual echobis.
2. You do not have to train customs or purchased echobis unless you wish to breed them.
3. Once you have fully trained one of your echobis, you will earn one custom ticket. Ten tickets are required to be able to claim your free custom voucher. More information about this can be found on the custom import page.
4. There are three training tiers, each with it's own prompt. Once you have completed up to tier three, your echobi will be considered fully trained.
5. Prompts can be completed through art (must be done by you, and fully colored, but it does not need to be anything super fancy or super high quality - just show some effort) or through creative writing (must be done by you, minimum of 75 words, no maximum).
6. Simply post your completed prompt onto your echobi's page. The artist will update the echobi's training tier as prompts are posted. If there is an issue with your prompt, you'll receive a message stating what needs to be done to fix it.
Tier One: Write or draw about the first time you met and touched your echobi. Adopts (both free and purchased) and customs are often fully feral when they come into Direwood, whether that is due to them being rehabbed from the wild or coming in from a neglect case. You'll meet them when you first pick them up from the Direwood facility. Pups are much tamer, and you will meet them upon birth (even if training is started after they are fully grown).
Tier Two: Write or draw about the first time you put your echobi's head collar on. Describe or draw the head collar, how they reacted, and their overall feeling about this. An echobi must be much tamer to get to this point, though that may not mean they fully trust you yet. This may also be your first time grooming your echobi or inspecting their health status now that you can get them still enough.
Tier Three: Write or draw about the first time you began to really bond to your echobi. This could be through special one on one care, them learning to trust you through food or toys, them learning basic obedience or their own name, their first time playing a game or participating in a beginners race, etc. This tier is very open ended and can be pretty much whatever you'd like within reason. Just be sure to highlight that bonding moment.
Artist Rules
1. Run everything by me first if you have any questions/concerns. I'm more than happy to help!
2. Turn to me for rule breaking - do not handle it yourself unless a very minor issue.
3. You may post as many Echobi as you wish, minimum of two per month to stay active. Remember; quality over quantity.
4. If there is an issue with your adopts or quality drops I will message you to work on things. Don't stress too much about this - but do expect unsolicited advice if there's an issue. I will always be kind though <3
5. If you are inactive for more than two months without reason you will be removed from the team. You can always try out on a later date. If you message me before taking a hiatus I will happily keep you on the team until you return. Just communicate c:
6. You may make five customs total, after you have made ten echobis (one custom every ten echobis made).
7. You may not make customs for others/gift echobis to friends.
8. Judge contests no later than seven days after the end date. Adopts left open longer than that without any response will be judged by me.
9. Do not make contests last more than seven days, unless it is a special event/impress me type comp. Extensions are always allowed if members ask.
10. Be sure to follow the species rules, do not make unnatural designs or ones that do not pertain to equine/canine genetics. This is pretty loose but try to keep designs within reason at least.
11. Do not make line edits without asking first. I may allow them for special events if your lineart work is of good quality. Minor halter edits are allowed for any regular adopt if desired.
12. Do not change line color/background/ect. unless it's for special event.
13. Painter marks should always be minimal and not cover more than 25% of their body. These can be any color, but should resemble abstract shapes/lines.
14. Use this form for each adopt - do not majorly alter please.
