Bakari are a friendly, high-spirited species native to the world of Elaria. There are no landlocked areas, and the world itself is essentially made up of multiple islands of various sizes. There are a range of biomes to explore; from rolling hillsides and lush forest, to rocky coasts and sandy beaches - every Bakari can find a place to call home.
Over the years they have become a very self-sufficient, community driven species. They all have a knack for crafting and problem solving, and they're the kind of creatures who always do what they can to help out where they can. It's not often they find themselves in a scuffle, but when they do, it's nothing that a good chat over a cup of tea can't solve.
Their coat is made of thick, wool-like fur, that retains heat in winter but also keeps them from overheating in summer. They always have a pair of horns, though the size and shape can range between individuals. Their limbs are covered in small, flexible scales. Although it is rare, there are some Bakari who exhibit more 'reptilian' features; clawed feet, scaled tails, and the like.
Being the curious, rather special species that they are, they possess the ability to switch being bipedal and quadrupedal. In their bipedal form they walk around on two legs, their front legs become more arm-like in structure, and their front hooves become more 'flexible'. That is, in the sense, they still look like a cloven hoof; a smaller side acts as a thumb, and a larger side acts as (like we would describe it) four fingers pressed together. Their quadrupedal form is as you'd expect; four hooves firmly on the ground. Running, gamboling, and frolicking is much easier (and fun) in this form.
