Kipins, an omnivorous, semi-arboreal feathered mammal. They live in rainforests and warm climates. They have strong back legs for jumping and gripping on trees, and rodent like hands that are are dexterous enough to pick fruit, groom themselves, and climb. They are very intelligent and social, often forming large communities. They have been known to use simple tools and respond well to training. One odd trait about them is the shiny, hard scale-like growths they have on their bodies. Known as mosaics, these (along with bright feathers) help Kipins to impress potential mates and attract other kipins to their communities.

Rules;

General rules;
- Kipins are a closed species, you may not make one without a MYO slot
- Kipins cannot be sold and can only be traded for other Kipins or Kipin MYOS.
- Do not harass other users in the Kipin community.
- Kipins work on a 3 strikes system, although you can be banned without strikes.
- Kipin staff reserves the right to take Kipins back in the event the user is banned.
- Banned users can no longer adopt, breed, or trade Kipins.
- Do not do anything illegal or immoral.
- Be nice no crime.

Design rules;
- Any way a Kipin physically deviates from the standard of the species, aside from color, is considered a trait.
- You cannot make edits to the Kipins design without an item (aside from expression edits and accessories)

Trading;

- Trades must be clearly agreed on by both parties.
- To be official, a trading form must be posted on the Trades Thread (wip).
- You must own a Kipin one week before trading them.
- You may trade twice in one calendar month.
- Any amount of Kipins may be traded in one trade, provided they are all owned by the two participating users.
- At this time, only trades with two users total are allowed ( no three way swaps).

Breeding;
- Kipins do not have to have any set gender to breed.
- The breeding system has not been created yet.

Artists;
- Artists will get a Curious myo slot for every month of activity.
- Artists can sell up to 50% of their adopts for c$.
- Artists can give out runner up designs or honorable mentions.
- Off-base adopts must be approved by Chickpea before posting to ensure accuracy.
- If adopts are not judged promptly, another staff may step in.

Kipin Biology;

General

Kipin's are covered in a short coat of fur-like feathers. They have vibrant skin that matches the colors of their feathers.

Kipins are omnivores, eating both meat and plants. They love fruits, berries, and nuts but also hunt rodents, small animals, or eat carrion. Kipins typical grow to about 2 feet tall. Their noses are like rabbits and the nose flap can close.

Kipin’s back claws are retractable, as long as they do not have mutated claws that are too long to retract.

Mosaic/Crystal Powder

They have shiny, hard, scale-like growths on their bodies, known as mosaics. These are very shiny; reflective but not iridescent. Mosiacs are developed by birth, but may continue to grow or spread, such as into Mosaic horns. Mosaic cannot be too close to joint or they may impede movement. On a kipin's skin, there is a fine powder made from the same materials as their mosaics. It makes the skin appear to sparkle and is soft to the touch. This powder helps to repair scratches or cracks on the Kipin's mosaic.

Kipin’s skin will secrete the shiny powder and it they do not bathe often, will start to crystallize on the feathers. Unless the crystals form on the edge of an existing mosaic, they will likely crumble off.

Young

Kipin young are called pups and are born viviparously. The offspring stay in nests in the trees or colony camp until old enough to explore and hunt.


Kipin behavior

Kipins have complex social structures and hierarchies. Their communities, called a colony or shimmer, can grow to over 30 individuals. These communities own a territory and work together to find food for each other's young. Kipins engage in communal grooming, preening each other and helping to wash in streams and waterfalls.

They value mosaics, as they find them very pretty. Similarly, they will collect shiny or interesting objects, much like Magpies.

Kipins will partner with flocks of birds, such as ravens or magpies. Their communities live together in symbiosis. Kipins like to use the dropped feathers to build their nests.
