Concept art: One | two | threeChronlings are usually tall canines, resembling wolves with lower "piranha" fangs and goat horns as the common identifying features. They also have smoke and ash coming from their paws and their noses, and scientists really do believe that they're working clocks. They die once that smoke disappears.
You might be extremely curious about the specifics of these clocks. They're born with it, it's part of their bodies and a piece of their chest. The harnesses are just accessories to make it look cooler. The clocks are assigned one subject for the chronling to look after at a time (with exceptions). It can be anything, from something small such as when the oven will be done (Chronlings who do this are usually lazy and don't wanna commit to bigger things at the moment), to something much bigger like when someone will die.No matter what it is, a Chronling cannot skip to another subject until their clock hits 0.
Chronlings can either be forced assigned to a mission (through a specific spell), or, they can choose their own.
Normal chronlings cannot be given someone immortal to keep track of.

Normal Size
Standing, their height reaches about 4'0"-5'0" with exceptions
Diet
Much like humans, Chronlings are omnivores and survive off of a diverse diet. However, they may have preferences
Powers
Chronlings, if watching over the life of an entity, can act as reapers once that being's time is up. They help the Grim Reaper himself, but collecting these souls and giving it to him to decide what to do with them. They are ONLY able to soul collect that one being and only when that being is dead.
Chronlings are able to portal jump from one spot on Earth to another, no matter how far that may be (Unless protected by a sigil). However, this drains them of energy and the longer the jumps, the more they must rest before jumping again.
Loyalty
With exceptions, Chronlings each are assigned one subject to watch over, and they cannot switch to another until their time is up.
Sociability
While being diligent with their assignment, Chronlings can still be very sociable creatures (of course, with a few outcasts as exceptions). They form packs much like wolves and may all watch over a specific group of entities or subjects, or they can be alone to tend to their duties.
Babies
Babies are dependent on their parent(s) until the age of 4 months, then they are able to seek out their very first subject. This "First Picking" is the most important part of their lives, and parents are usually sentimental about it (much like humans). Until then, their clocks are completely blank.
Lifespan
Time is a construct, and therefore can be endless. Chronlings, completely healthy and unharmed, could live until the universe stops altogether. However, due to their dangerous jobs, they can easily live a much shorter life.
