Colonial Quarter Horses are best known for their builds that mirror those of the original Quarter Horse breed that was created back in the 1800s. A perfect mixture of Arabian, Mustang, and the Spanish Barb. Primarily this breed focuses on endurance training instead of the better known disciplines of today. Colonial Quarter Horses are said to be as fast, if not more, than a Thoroughbred. However this breed is versatile and is able to compete in a wide variety of disciplines in the equestrian community.
It has taken years for this breed to resurface after long hours of genetic testing, breeding, and perfecting the breed to bring back the original, Quarter Horse. However with this breed, owners have been recently incorporating appaloosa genetics, causing a variety of coat colors and patterns to arise.

LA's DarkFireWolf wrote:Just wanted to say stunning! Never would have known that there has ever been a different Quarter horse!! What is the typical coat colors before the Appaloosa genes?
the typical coat colors are ones you'd find in everyday QHs! Could range from a simple chestnut to a Red Dun or Grullo!
