Leucism

Postby Ovacalix » Sat Mar 09, 2019 12:49 pm

Leucism - represented by ll, Leucism carrier is Ll

Leucism is an interesting gene, because unlike in other species where it seems to take most if not all of the pigmentation from the animals coat, it only partially effects that of the BGC!

To express this on an import, you would simply take the base coat of the Bou and make it lighter without altering the saturation.

In some instances it is appropriate to desaturate a coat to make the Leucism more apparent, this is generally only seen in lighter coats.

One example of this below is with Palomino

as you can see with the below palomino, the variation is there, but its a bit too little to really count for leucism

And so that is when we pull the slider a little closer to white, thus desaturating it and giving the leucistic palomino a bit more difference

this trend continues until the Bou loses all of the pigment in its base coat, and leaves it white.

Caribou follows all the same gene rules as it would typically with leucism- it must be lighter than the coat of the Bou. When a bou is leucistic to the point where there is no pigment to the coat, caribou will blend with it.

Leucism Carrier "Ll" has a 25% chance to pass when one parent is a leucism carrier and the other is not

roll 1d100 |1-25 is carrier 25-100 is nothing, sorry kids
re-roll if you land on 25
