A big thank you to our mascot, Noodle(left),
for making our header text! He's very proud
of his handy-work.

Paint-Tailed Pythons (PTP) are a unique breed of pythons that have paint seeping from beneath the scales of their tail tips. PTP tend to be slightly smaller than their close cousins, ball pythons; with females being around 2-3 feet long, and males 1-2 feet long. Hatchlings are dramatically smaller at only 5 inches long.

Pythons tend to be quite intelligent, and PTP are no exception. PTP can be quite shy when first introduced to their owners, but will warm up quickly and soon become inseparable. They have exceptionally long lifespans, and have been known to live for upwards of 60 years - owning one (or many) is a lifelong commitment!

Unusually, some PTP display attractions to members of the same gender. Others even identify as non-binary and more. Even more interestingly, any pair can breed.

Ownership

Postby ABeardedDragon » Tue Jan 03, 2017 10:08 am

Each PTP will have a form to fill out if you'd like to adopt. The forms may be heavily complex, or simple raffles.

The limit of PTP owned is 9 normal adopts, including runner-ups, and 7 nursery PTP breedings!
Customs and event PTPs do not count toward this limit.

If you ever decide you no longer want your PTP and wish to re-adopt it, contact the artist who made your PTP. They will hold the re-adoption for the design.

You may not sell or trade any PTP.
If you'd rather gift your PTP to someone else, PM this form to ABeardedDragon:
Code: Select all
PTP Number and link:
Regular, Nursery, or Runner Up:
Username of previous owner:
Username of new owner:
Screenshot of permission from new owner:
Have you already gifted a PTP this month?:

The current owner should send the form.
You may only gift a maximum of one PTP per month.
Re-adopting is separate from gifting, but has the same limit of one per month.

Colors and Rarities

Postby ABeardedDragon » Tue Aug 15, 2017 4:12 pm

Image
PTP come in an incredibly variety of colors and morphs. Some retain the natural coloration and/or striping of their Ball Python cousins, but others can have an array of unnatural colors and markings. Rarity is based on the most prominent or abundant color on the PTP's body:

Common: Yellow, Brown, Gold, Orange
Uncommon: Red, Green, Blue, Purple, Grey
Rare: White/very light, Black/very dark, or PPS

Their paint can be any color of the rainbow, and can sometimes - but rarely - be multiple colors. However, only extremely special or rare PTP can have greyscale paint. Their paint color commonly syncs with their eye color, but the two can be different. On occasion, PTP can also be born with additional mutations such at horns, visible fangs, or even fur!

Common:
Small horns
Feathers
Short hair or fur tuft
Heterochromia
No pupils
Colored pupils
1-2 colored paint

Uncommon:
Medium horns
Small antlers
Medium hair or fur tuft
Small wings
Scaleless
Glowing eyes or markings
Shaped pupils
3-5 colored paint
Shapes or patterns in paint
Sparkles in paint

Rare:
Large horns
Medium antlers
Long hair or fur tuft
Medium wings
Furred body
Crystals or gems
Minor powers
Multiple tails
6-10 colors in paint
Glowing paint
Items in paint

Legendary:
Large antlers
Large wings
Crystal, stone or other material body
Major powers
Floating, goop, wispy or otherwise unnatural paint

Customs

Postby ABeardedDragon » Tue Aug 15, 2017 4:13 pm

Image
Custom PTP can be bred, but it can be quite difficult to breed them exactly how they are desired and are therefore quite rare! Usually, custom PTP will be given to staff as a 'thank you' for their work!

Very rarely, dedicated fans or kind members in the community will be offered a custom!

If you are a staff member and you qualify for a custom, PM me once you know what sort of design you'd like. You may design it if you choose, but if you'd prefer, I can.

If you won a custom from the Advent Calendar use this form below and PM it to me, the artist section is who you would like to make your custom; please ask if they would be available first or I can ask for you. Items can also be used on customs at the time of ordering, regardless of the rarity of the custom and items. For example, you could use a common custom and apply rare horns, making your custom rare.
