This is a species of my own creation, called a Caprus!! I would also like to give credit to spirit18 for giving me suggestions!!
Free to edit, just don't claim as your own and don't remove my signature! Hope you enjoy making them!
Also, feel free to draw Capruses, but please send me them when you do! I'd love to see them
- What is a Caprus?
A Caprus is an interesting creature, largely canine in face and body, with equine hind legs. They have large, ram-type horns which grow regardless of gender, and begin growing shortly after birth. Most Caprus live in open plains areas, and can move very fast. Their large tails can be used to help with direction, working as counterbalance to their weight and allowing them to turn quicker whilst hunting. Being large animals, they stand at around 1.4 meters at the shoulder on average. They typically weigh around 180kg.
What do Caprus eat?
A Caprus' diet consists largely of meat, sourced from large, grazing creatures. However, they can get by on, and do catch, smaller animals like rabbits. Caprus can also digest plant matter, but it does not form a major part of their diet. Many Caprus also enjoy eating insects.
Do Caprus live in packs?
Typically, yes. Some Caprus prefer to live on their own, or in smaller groups, but they often live in packs of up to 40 individuals! Packs will contain a spread of males and females, and breeding isn't restricted to specific pack ranks.
How do they breed?
Once a year, female Caprus go into heat. They are a monogamous species, and tend to mate for life, though there are exceptions.
The gestation period is around 4 months. Caprus litters are usually 2-4 pups, and they are born deaf and blind. Over the first two weeks of life, their eyes open and their ears develop enough that they can hear. They stay with their mothers until they are 6 months old, then tend to be pushed out into independence a little. Some Caprus pups, once matured, will leave their pack to start their own, and others stay where they are and live with their families.
