Birdies are a species of bird-humanoid aliens that live on a planet known as Aeros! They live in groups known as flocks, which each have their own unique culture! Their planet is always cloudy and usually windy - so they have adaptations which have benefitted them as a species, even if now they can simply hide in their homes!

-If you are banned from the species/cs, your birdies will be rehomed
-You may order 1 custom per month [for now]
-Selling/trading is not permitted at the current moment, I need to work out how to do stuff lol. Gifting is fine, but please post on the archives about it
-The limit on birdies is discussed in a post below
-NEW: Failure to provide adequate information for your first free custom within two weeks of them being made will result in your birdie being readopted. This applies to ALL birdies. You will be notified before the two week period is up. This primarily applies if you have been active on CS and have read the PM.

staff:

-Staff members can claim a free custom per month! [as well as the paid one]
-Inactivity without checking with me may result in removal of your position. However, this depends on circumstances [generally, inactivity itself does not bother me, but the lack of communication does]
-Designs should be based off of a bird to some degree. Secondary themes are welcomed and encouraged!
-Make sure you read the anatomy/edits section!
-Complete any custom orders within a reasonable time
-Competitions should be judged in a month from the closing date. Please let me know if you cannot judge them
-Birdies do have to have outfits. However, a version without the outfit [which is still suitably covered, of course] should also be given c:
-Please try to provide a palette for their designs!
-Please do not add other users to the lines, unless you have asked me first. [including adding users to their birdies references]

note:

-People who were allowed to make birdies freely before this [a select few friends of mine and ofc myself lol] are still allowed to have customs freely [a lot of them aren't too active, though, sadly!]

revamp:

-If you want to revamp a design, please PM me with how you plan to revamp it. I will say whether I personally believe it's okay.
-Please then ask the original designer, and tell them with how you plan to revamp the design
-If the artist says its okay, you may revamp the design
-I/the artist will then approve it

• Birdies are covered in feathers!
• They have "rigid" feathers on their elbows and on their feet, to aid with balance.
• They have black sclera
• Their eye and tongue colour match
• They can have sharp teeth or flat teeth
• They have winged ears to aid in balance

• Birdies can have edits, however, there is no rarity system!
• Edits cannot be asked for in customs, but artists may make edited customs for themselves. Standard edits can be made in adopts.

• Flocks are, amongst birdies, a large family and friend group that they live with! Birdies are not found living on their own [they can choose to.... never socialise, that's technically an option]. Nobody knows quite how big they can get - but some suspect even over 40!
• Each user can have as many flocks as they would like, as long as they don't go over the limit of owned birdies.
• Multiple users can have birdies in the same flock - in fact, this is encouraged!
• Birdies do not really have countries - each individual flock often has their own traditions, although two flocks in the same area may grow accustomed to each other's traditions.
• Can birdies start their own flock? Yes, they can! Birdies in a relationship may choose to start their own flock. Often, this new flock will contain a mixture of traditions from their old flocks. Birdies, however, are not by any means required to start their own flock - it's a personal choice.

• Every flock as, essentially, their own unique culture. Interests of members of the flock tend to quickly spread out, and, before you know it, everyone else shares an interest or at least knows about it. Ingrained interests may actually be taught to children - however, basics [language, maths, science, etc] are always taught to children so that they have a basic understanding of the world. Flocks themselves may work as a democracy or have certain members who make the decisions - simply dependent on the flock themselves.
• One thing of note, is that all flocks have a "flock crest". Usually this is in somewhat of a wing-like shape, and in a meta sense, fits the overall theme of the flock in terms of colours and shape. Flock crests are likely to be worn on clothing - they are seen as "family pride" to some degree. However, wearing it on a piece of clothing may or may not be required depending on the flock themselves.
• Here are examples using my own ones:
  
  The Hinix flock have an overarching theme of being based on birds in cold climates and therefore are themed a lot around winter
  
  The Homic flock has an overall theme of death [studying it, funerals, etc] which is seen through how the symbol almost resembles a scythe
  
  The Aurum flock's overall theme is thievery, and so the symbol is gold and silver bc money [and flow-y bc they Run from the law]
• For the most part, all birdies are equal to one another. However, birdies with complete heterochromia are regarded as royal - and so therefore, the flocks they are in are often regarded as royal for as long as they live.
• The law enforcement in the birdie world is a force that is kind - they want to help all citizens - but also fiercely protective of them from any dangers. The law enforcement focuses on keeping everyone safe.

Sometimes, you may win or order a non-adult birdie! In cases like this, there is aging available to users.

• Ask the artist to do the aging, but please be patient!
• Egg -> Child: 3 days minimum wait, to give the artist a chance to pre-design it!
• Child -> Adult: 3 weeks minimum wait

Runner-ups can, theoretically, be given in any competition. However, runner-ups will always be discussed by staff before they are handed out. This is to make sure artists do not overwhelm themselves, and that there is no unfairly giving out RUs. Short competitions are not very likely to have RUs handed out, but bigger competitions are more likely. c:

Levels are a way to encourage you to develop your birdies!
The amount you are allowed depends on the level you are currently at.
Staff members are allowed +1 birdie, given their current level.
Please go to the archives to level up.



Drawn tasks must be coloured and somewhat neat.
Written tasks must be a minimum of 250 words.

level 0: [limit: 1]

• Make a storage place for your birdies.
  
• Give your first birdie some personality traits. [no minimum]
level 1: [limit: 3]

• Create your own flock! Describe a tradition/common interest [or multiple] for them!
• Write out a birdie's personality and history. [min 250 each]
• Describe where one of your flocks is located!
level 2: [limit: 6]

• Draw or order art of one of your birdies doing something that relates to an interest!
• Describe a relationship between at least two of your birdies
• Write about a scene of your choice

• Draw/write a scene of your choice
• Write out a birdie's personality and history!
• How would your flock react to a royal birdie being born?

• A birdie actively refuses to partake in a common interest [can be npc] - write or draw how your flock reacts!

• What is taught in your flock, aside from the basics? Explain!

• Uh oh... Your flock has been robbed! Draw/write a scene about how your flock reacts
• An important flock announcement has been called - write a scene about this
• Great, one of your birdies is lost in a forest. Or somewhere. Write/draw how that happened and/or how they get back!

• Draw or order two pieces of art
• Write out a personality and history for two birdies
• Write/draw a scene of your choice

• You cannot sell a birdie that you received for free. [Essentially, you can sell customs]
• You can ONLY sell/trade/gift to people THAT ARE PERMITTED TO HAVE BIRDIES. please ask me if you are unsure [this is a big rule because they are a private species]
• You may ONLY sell/trade birdies that you have owned for 2 months. You may GIFT a birdie after owning it for a week.
• Please ask the designer if you would like for it to be put up for readoption.
