He got the way he is because of the death of his only friend. He was bullied as a child for being an orphan, but there was one pup who always stood up for him. They became best friends and were almost never apart. On his birthday the two went out together to have fun, he was laughing and joking around so he didn't see the car coming fast towards them. His friend saw it through and pushed him out of the way dying right in front of his best friend. The guilt and grief of the only person who cared for him, and that he cared for, drove him mad. He rotted from the inside out, decaying into the monster he is now.
