Napple Valley is a closed adopt hosted on the Chicken Smoothie oekaki. The adopt theme revolves around magical horses in a fantasy setting. The fact that it's a closed adopt means you cannot make your own Napple Valley characters without permission (such as a custom or make-your-own) and new characters are typically gained by adoption. There's no one stopping you from making magical horses on your own, they just won't be a part of Napple Valley!

𝓟𝓻𝓸𝓶𝓹𝓽𝓼

Napple Valley encourages your creativity by hosting prompts every month that can be fulfilled by drawing or writing! Every time you complete a prompt you earn Magic Pebbles which can be spent on special items such as companions for your characters, customs, or MYO tickets.

For more information, please visit the Prompts Thread.

The adopts of Napple Valley have a variety of traits they can possess, some rarer than others. The following is a list of traits that are currently recognized.

Non-rarity features are body build, eye color, body color, pattern, and markings, and facial expressions. All adopts have these without it affecting their rarity!

Common features include styled manes and tails, leg feathering, and beards.

Uncommon features include horns (of all types), cloven hooves, and ear mutations (curled, long, lop, etc).

Rare features include wings, unusual tails, fangs or tusks, and any glowing (eyes, markings, halo, etc).

Mythic features include extra legs, hippocampus, and manes and tail made of magic (plants, tentacles, fire, etc).

A:

Lore

Postby Griddle » Sun Oct 08, 2017 10:04 am

Long ago, horses were kept by man.

Man used and abused them, trapped them, owned them as pretty trophies or beasts of burden, worked to the bone. Under man, the horses had no community, rights, or freedom. In captivity, they languished. They called for help.

The gods listened.

Deities of the elements heard their cry. They came together and gifted the horses with control of magic, to break their chains and claim their freedom. They whispered of a place far away, a land of plenty, a sanctuary from the plague of humans.

Light showed the way. Earth cleared the trail. Air aided in their haste. Water washed the sweat from their brows. Fire kept them warm at night. Darkness obscured their footprints.

After a long and grueling journey, they made it to Napple Valley.

Here was a land of peace and prosperity. A bountiful land with clear waters. While not without the dangers of living wild, they were free here. With their newfound magical powers, the horses made a place for themselves in the valley.

𝓔𝓵𝓮𝓶𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓼

The horses of Napple Valley believe in six elements that make up their world. Each element has different values attributed to them, as well as a personified deity. Some horses are more devout than others, but all are familiar with these concepts as a part of their everyday life.

Image
Crashing waves, rushing rivers, glass-still ponds, and ancient glaciers. Though its form may change, it seems to last forever. WATER is the element of resilience, change and eternity.

Water shrines and acolytes are decorated with shells and round pebbles. Their colors consist of blues, greens, grays and shell-pink.

The ruling deity of water is Kelpie, a horse whose mane and tail are a constant fountain. Kelpie can walk on and meld with water as they please. They may bless a horse with the hippocampus trait.
Image
Yawning caves, vast fields, shady forests, and precious gems. EARTH is the element of steadfastness, growth, and bounty.

Earth shrines and acolytes are decorated with plants and flowers, minerals, and leather. Their colors consist of greens, browns, and the bright colors of flowers and fruit.

The ruling deity of Earth is Sleipnir, a six-legged horse. Lush greenery sprouts around their footsteps. Peonies grow where their eyes should be and wildflowers are strewn through their hair. They may bless a horse with the extra legs trait.
Image
Tiny glowing embers, billowing smoke, and raging infernos. FIRE is the element of destruction, cleansing, and transformation.

Fire shrines and acolytes are decorated with forged metal, jewelry and satin. Their colors consist of reds, golds, and blacks.

The ruling deity of fire is Aethon, a smoldering, smoking horse with mane and tail of fire and three-toed hooves. They are forever thin and hungry. They may bless a horse with the magical mane and tail trait (fire).
Image
Buffeting gusts, fragrant zephyrs, and towering thunderstorms on the horizon. AIR is the element of speed, travel, and freedom.

Air shrines and acolytes and decorated with lace, feathers, and wild grasses. Their colors are whites, grays, and pastels.

The ruling deity of air is Pegasus, a blue roan winged horse. Lightning flashes in their eyes, and they smell like fresh rain. They may bless a horse with the wings trait.
Image
The streak of color above the horizon at dawn, a glowing mist, and the unforgiving rays of the sun. LIGHT is the element of truth, investigation, justice, and wrath.

Light shrines and acolytes are decorated in gossamer fabrics and pale jewelry. Their colors are whites, golds, and creams.

The ruling deity of light is Abraxas, a heavy white horse with a golden corona. It is difficult to look at them directly for their shining. They may bless a horse with the glowing trait.
Image
A moonless night, a shifting shadow, the warmth of the womb. DARK is the element of birth, death, healing, mystery and obscurity.

Dark shrines and acolytes and decorated with satin and silver jewlry. Their colors are blacks, reds, and silvers.

The ruling deity of dark is Nyx, a black horse with a horns upon their brow. Stars are strewn through their long mane and tail. They may bless a horse with the horns trait.

𝓡𝓮𝓵𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷𝓼

Horses are not the only inhabitants of the valley, there are a variety of plants and animals that they share the land with. Some are on good terms, and they often work and trade together. Others... not so much.

Elves are an intelligent race that live in the forests. Nimble and dexterous, they can craft objects the horses cannot. In turn, elves are not inherently magical, so the horses lend their gifts in exchange. Never treating the horses as beasts of burden, it can be said that the two are friends.

Fauns and mermaids are also on good terms, and they're often found socializing together.

Creatures like griffons, rocs, sphinxes, and other predators pose a threat however, seeing the horses as prey animals. Dragons seem as fickle as the wind, and there's no telling how they might treat a horse on any given day.

Man has not been seen in the valley, and in the horses' opinion, the valley is better for it.
