On a chain of islands off the coast of south america, only recently discovered, the ruins of an ancient civilization were found, similar to the Mayans and Aztecs! Among these early cities, statues and carvings of a dragon-like creature with feathers growing from it's scaly skin were found. Of course, they were passed off as myths, as many other religions have them. That is, until a scientist spotted one of these animals!
These strange reptiles were dubbed "omen dragons" as they were rumored to bring good luck.
Studies on omen dragons have found that they are mostly arboreal, feeding on moss and leaves in the jungle canopy and rarely coming down. They use their long bodies to move easily across the treetops, with sharp claws and a prehensile tail to hold onto branches as they go.
An adult omen dragon is, on average, 10-13 feet long, while hatchlings are most commonly 1-2 feet. Omen dragons mate for life, and lay around three eggs. The young stay with the parents for three years before leaving. Most omen dragons are done growing at 6 years old, the lifespan typically lasting 8-12 years.
