well would you look at that! i've put too much effort into a cover for a species i'm thinking too much about yet again. but will this stop me from doing this again in the future? nope.
anyhow!! i thought long and hard about these babs (and today i'm going to be out of town to hopefully get some more inspiration for these babs) and decided i'd go ahead and make a few adoptables. but i'd be treating them like my kitten rescue adopts where if a design hits me, i'll make it into an adopt for you guys!
stay tuned for any future adopts, which you will find here!
- Rules:
1. please don't steal these babs! if you adopted one, that individual belongs to you. but the species is mine. c:
2. unless they're a loner (which is uncommon), they all live in these floating islands!
3. some adopts will be for free while others may require a small payment (c$)
4. Aerios can breed with other OCs as long as they are human. but since this is a roleplay interactive species, their relationship must be recorded in some way for it to be considered canon. Hypos or crack ships are alright.
5. Aerios rarely go to the Surface (below the clouds), and they exist in a fantasy world stuck in the 1920s - 40s.
more rules will be added later!
Aerios, "high in the air" are humanoid beings with large feathered wings, tail feathers, and prehensile tails. Although they resemble angels, Aerios are their own people (however they consider being referred to as angels extremely flattering and the highest honor). They inhabit the floating islands of Pyralis and the Tree of Life, farming the Sky sheep and buffalo who live there.
The three main islands: Ado, Shill, and Pyra
- Ado - the largest and highest island, home of the Tree of Life. The Tree of Life possesses magical abilities, such as the ability to float. Its bark, sap, roots, leaves, and flowers all have healing properties. Every Aerio learns how to care for the Tree, but only healers know how to use its products for medicine.
This island is also used for the farming of sky buffalo and sheep, as well as housing for most of the Aerios population. Most children are born here, making this the island where they learn to fly. The Library is set at the base of the Tree.
Shill - the smallest island, home of a large hill used for mining metals or precious stones. Behind it is the cemetery. While remains of passed Aerios goes to the tree, their records are kept on stone slabs. Each year Aerios celebrate the lives of the deceased, decorating each stone tablet with flowers, candles, and other small gifts.
Pyra - the island of Pryalis' soul, home to the academy in which students learn how to support their home and protect it. Once children learn the basics of flight, they move to this island where they live in dorms and study with one another. A watch tower is present near the back of the island where the knights stand watch. If the lighthouse on Ado has its light turned from green to red, the knights at the watch tower are the first to know. the most experienced knights assemble an army to fight off whatever dangers threaten their home.
The Surface - hidden well beneath the clouds, the Surface is full of mystery and legend. Many Aerios have come to fear what lurks below the clouds and have decided they are perfectly happy where they are in the sky. However when supplies get low at home, the council gets together and decides who to send below to forage. Usually only two of each, the best in their classes, are sent below: two farmers, two builders, two knights, and two doctors. It is absolutely forbidden for anyone else to go below without permission as it is believed to be far too dangerous.
