Introduction:

I'd like to mention that this is my first time holding a species design competition on this website, but I'm aware of the rules involved and the general process as I've read through the official rules and I've entered several competitions myself before. I would also like to mention that it's unusual for me to hold a competition of this kind considering I usually draw lineart, characters and designs of all kinds myself for myself / others, but I have reasons for making the decision to hold this competition.
I also would like to say that though I've taken my own Oekaki adoptables less than seriously in the past, any species that I keep from this competition will be cherished and cared for very well. As a final note of this introduction, I ask that anyone interested in entering please take the time to read the rules before submitting an entry to make sure you have a full understanding of.... well, the rules and how I plan on managing entries.

Prizes:

Of course, if you plan on entering you very well may want to know what compensation you will be receiving!
I'd like to get as many quality entries as possible, and so I'm going to offer a fair number of prizes and options for compensation. In the prize options group, there are currently: 5 Very Rares, 8 Rares and 95 uncommon and under others. 28 C$ will also be distributed. Before I explain how the prizes will be split, here's some examples of what you can win!

The Very Rares:

Now, here's how the prizes will be split:

1st Place will receive 3 Very Rares and 4 Rares of their choice (first pick) from the prize group, as well as 40 uncommon and below pets of their choice from the prize group.
You will also receive 15 C$.

2nd Place will receive 2 Very Rares and 2 Rares of their choice (second pick) from the prize group, as well as 30 uncommon and below pets of their choice from the prize group.
You will also receive 8 C$.

3rd Place will receive the two remaining Rares from the prize group, as well as the remainder of uncommon and under pets from the prize group.
You will also receive 5 C$.

Every other entrant will receive a random reward from outside of the main prize group after the competition closes.

Dia has informed me that I must link every pet available in the prize group, and that linking to the group is insufficient. Due to this, I will now update this prize post with a link to every pet.

What I'm Looking For / Not Looking For

Of course, everyone has preferences when it comes to these sorts of competitions. Generally, participants have a higher chance of winning when they take note of these preferences. I'll try to be clear with what particular features / ideas I'm looking for in an entry, or what will put you ahead.

What I'm Looking For:

1. Original / Unique Ideas / Concepts.
2. Feral / 4 legged
3. Most mammals (I love canine characteristics, but I'm not looking for just a dog picture).
4. Dragon-like or serpentine features (to an extent)
5. Unique tail options
6. Fur, Fluff, Fuzziness!
7. Clean Lines!

What I'm NOT Looking For:

1. Equines
2. Violent / Dark
3. Messy Lines
4. Stolen or unoriginal designs / concepts
5. Anthro / primate / humanoid

….and of course there are some boosters – boosters are not required (well, nothing in particular is “required” necessarily, just suggested to put you ahead) but will most likely give you an advantage.

1. Clean Lines, as mentioned in “What I'm Looking For” (mentioning again because, well, it's important!
2. Better artwork than mine (after all I could just draw my own stuff, but I'm looking for work that's new to me and eye-catching that I could appreciate both concept-wise and aesthetically).
3. Fill and Shading layers
4. Nursery Lines (Not entirely necessary, but nice to have both in the same style and available).
5. Multiple options (as in, different parts may have multiple options available (multiple tail options, multiple ear types, multiple accessory types if accessories are a part of your concept)
6. Making your own unique background.

Note: Adding me to your drawing upon submitting is necessary for me to see your layer usage, which will be taken into account during judging. Please add me to your drawing when you've finished your entry and submitted it to this competition.

Rules:

Of course, every competition needs a good set of rules to run smoothly.
Please read the following before entering, as by entering you're automatically accepting following these rules, and if you do not follow the rules you may be disqualified!

1. Follow all CS rules.
2. By entering this competition, you are accepting that your species / drawing may be chosen as a winning entry, and you forfeit the right to use it for your own gain or adoptables (unless you fail to place in the top 3 positions). If I keep your entry, you may NOT color in your own unless you choose to become an official artist for the species.
3. If you place within the top three ranks and accept a winner's prize, your entry will be kept by me to be used for adoptables. The adoptables I create using your lines will have their own rules applied to them, and may possibly be used off-site in the future (though possibly not).
4. If you place within the top three but I choose not to use your lines for adoptables, you may keep your entry to use for your own gain, but you will still receive a winner's place prize. I will let you know if this is the case via PM.
5. Do not complain if you don't place; don't be mean or rude to other contestants or to me for any reason whatsoever. Be appropriate and respectful, please.
6. If you would like to negotiate your prize, this is an option. PM me if you wish to request a different reward, but be aware I reserve the right to decline your request. (Only applicable if you are a top 3 winner)
7. Serious entries only – if you enter a 5 minute sloppy doodle as a joke, you will not receive an entrant's reward, because it would not be a legitimate entry.
8. The end date is currently undecided, but I will update this thread when I have decided on an end date. I am also aware of the “3-month must close” rule regarding undecided end-date competitions. There will be a suitable amount of time given when an end date is decided (there will be at least 8 extra days when the end-date is announced) so if you are working on an entry you won't be forced to rush through it to meet the end date. It may also be extended on request.
