What are Novibats?

Novibats are a unique species of bats that can
take up residence anywhere their heart desires...

Novibats are bequeathed with special
"star-stones" that operate as magical transforming
agents. Once they come of age, their star stone
changes color (the little diamond in the center) and
they undergo a permanent metamorphosis which
results in their designation to a specific biome.
Once metamorphosed, it is incredibly difficult to
leave and often results in death because the
Novibat is not suited to other climates. Novibats
can then remove their star stones, as it loses all
magical properties it held and becomes a memento
for the Novibat. However, they usually keep them
around their necks as it is something they keep with
them all their lives as physical memories of their
homeland and the Star-Stones serve as a
form of name tag.

- The Novibat Adoption Center is a safe place for all people.

There will be no drama, arguments, spam in any official Novibats threads.
Please PM me or any site/Novibats mod directly if you have a concern.

- Novibats are a closed species. You may not create your own or claim this species as your own.

I am aware that there are similar species in existence.
I originally conceived the idea for this species in 2014 on my DeviantArt and have been working on it off and on since.

- All signatures must be kept on the reference images.

- Designs may not be transferred to different species.

- You may own as many Novibats as you like.

- If you are banned from the species, your will lose all items, Novibat currency and Novibats you own.

- You may trade Novibats ONLY for other Novibats.

-You may gift Novibats.
-You must notify the archivist of any ownership changes.

-Selling or auctioning off Novibats is not allowed.

-Novibats' reproductive relationships can involve three (3) Novibats or two (2) Novibats.

- Each Novibat may only contribute to 3 litters/children in a single lifetime.
- Novibats are unable to breed or partner with other species.

Official Artists

Responsibilities, etc.?
- Design theft is not tolerated!
- Please limit yourself on designs from
pre-existing IPs, such as movies,
TV shows, comic books, et cetera.
(An appropriate limit is one per every 15+
Novibats you design.)
- New artists must have their first 3 designs
checked by pterodactyl before uploading them.
- Eyebleed rule: Try not to use VGA colors
in a design unless it is tastefully done.

Perks?
- Artists may make one custom for themselves
for every 5 adopts they make for the species.
-Customs should be posted under a cover of your
username in the staff customs oekaki board.
- You can only post one custom
for yourself every month.
- Official Artists will receive an Unlimited amount of coins,
in the form of a Staff Bank Account. Each may
"purchase" any item once per month.

Guest Artists

Responsibilities, etc.?
- This is a temporary art position,
suitable for those who do not want to be
permanent artists for the species.
- You can make as many designs maximum
as you want in a 2 month period.
After that, you will be removed from the oekaki.
- Minimum requirement is 3 designs.
- You may be asked to become an official artist.
- Design theft is not tolerated!
- Please limit yourself on designs from
pre-existing IPs, such as movies,
TV shows, comic books, et cetera.
(An appropriate limit is one per every 15+
Novibats you design.)
- New artists must have their first 3 designs
checked by pterodactyl before uploading them.

Jack-of-All-Trades and Species Owner

This is pterodactyl's role for the species.

They generally function as all of the other roles listed,
and have the ability to make items for the species.

They reserve the right to remove any staff from the species
for disruptive behavior and do not take demands from
any other staff members. Any concerns with the species
or its' staff members can be brought to them.

Moderators

Responsibilities?
- Be neutral and level-headed in responses
to keep drama low.
- Answer questions in relation to the
adoption center and have
a direct line to me for answers to
any questions you do not know.

Customs?
- May request one artist-requested custom for every
2 months of work past 1 month.
- Must be an active moderator for 1 month before
asking an artist for your first custom.

Archivists

Responsibilities?

Archivists are in charge of keeping their archives
tidy and up-to-date. This is not a job to be
taken lightly! It requires a lot of organization skills.
The archive must be updated at least once every other
month, if activity is low. Once a month, if activity is high.

Adopt archivists archive:
-all adopts and runner-ups
-all customs
-all ownership changes

Customs?
- May have one artist-requested custom for every
3 months of work past 1 month.
- Must be an active archivist for 1 month before
asking an artist for your first custom.

2: What is an 'impress me' contest?

'Impress me' contests are those in which you show me how much you want the Novibat...
I give you unlimited room to stretch and grow your form in any direction you choose.

The most assured way to do prove you want the bat most and impress me is to show me by deep and/or complex character development, effortful art, well-written stories, and reaching out to other Novibat owners to form relationships with their Novibats.

However, should you so desire, there are many other 'extras' that you can add to your form to really make your form stand out! Examples of these would be recording and uploading songs you wrote for the competition, complex animations, flash games or java applets or even whole Weebly websites!

Purple MetaCrystal
All MetaCrystals serve two purposes.

The first is to change your Novibat from a teenager (the form you adopt) into an adult!
There are many different adult lines and the metamorphosis usually changes them into a lineart that is for a random biome.

The second purpose is to redeem them for a custom novibat! The more novibats you attempt to summon or age, the more crystals you will need.
