adolescent novibats;; notes on anatomy
- all adolescent novibats are covered in fluff from their neck/top of their head down to above their wings.
- the fluff in their ears is very thin and wispy
- their tail is very bushy
- adolescents fluff themselves up to appear bigger when threatened, to gain warmth, or in play-fights
x - novibats range in size from 0.75 to 1.5 feet from paws to ear tip
- novibats are usually around 1.75 to 2 feet from nose to tail tip
x - they have hind-legs made for springing and running. they run much like vampire bats.
- their front limbs can rotate outward for flight. they must get a running start or drop from above. they can gain only slight altitude without the assistance of thermal updrafts.
- wing skeleton ref 1
- wing skeleton ref 2
x - Novibats lack reproductive organs. In order to reproduce, they must have a Crafter Bat form an effigy from clay, in which they will contribute the dregs of their magic in order to produce a child. "Magic" is an oversimplification, for purposes not stated here.
