- I'm the kind of person who generally prefers "dark" colors, so black is perfect for me; plus it doesn't burn my eyes. ^^
- Purple is my overall favorite color, I know this is a color generally preferred by - well - everybody, but you can never have too much purple
Markings
- Zeph's face mainly represents me in expression alone.
- I'm a generally serious person, and I don't tend to joke around in real life, it's easier to act goofy on the internet, though, so this doesn't show as well online as it does in my actual life.
- The heart represents my more feminine side, something that doesn't come out often. The blurring glow around the edges shows how inconspicuous my feminine side is.
- The fire represents not my love for fire, but my insane fear of it. I've always feared fire and heat, no matter what form it may be in. This is why sometimes Zeph is shown with her fire, and other times without it.
- The design on her left front paw is completely random and represents my more random tendencies.
- The shooting star and moon represent my ability to link unrelated things. They're fairly easy to relate now that you see the shooting star and the moon are both in outer space, but beforehand you probably just thought the crescent moon was a semi-circle or otherwise. I tend to make links from milk to dinosaurs, so this represents me well.

My number one pet peeve is when people say 'Sorry this isn't ready for intermediate' without giving crit. If you're going to say it isn't very good, say why -_-"

I know, i hate that, too.
I think it's really super cute, but it's not really well composed. There's not a lot of personality in the character, and the pose doesn't really look that natural. The coloring could be a little smoother, and some shading would really help. Try giving your subject a more obvious expression next time. (I know that's hard when your subject is sleeping..maybe make her smiling, or furrow her brow, depending on her mood) try drawing him/her from different angles in more natural poses. if you're having trouble, look around the boards for examples and tutorials. Even just studying other artist's styles will help. Don't be afraid to expirement with new styles on the sketches board, no one will critique you there unless you want them to. ;) I like your style of highlighting, but it doesn't look quite right on a furry animal. (although it's perfect for drawing stuff like glass bottles or jars and stuff like that.)
Anyway, i know critique is not fun to hear, but I hope i've helped you out. :) We've all been here. I hate having my art critiqued, but it's pretty important for me to improve.
misttt wrote:Thanks for your critique, I'm not good at mouths (Like, really really bad :/) so I have a lot of trouble with expressions. I realized that, even though I did have shading it was barely visible, so thanks! Seriously, I love crit, it helps me improve, but when people just say it's not intermediate. Yeah, thanks guys. Reeaaall helpful

Well, I hope that DharSiis little guide helps next time you draw her fursona! ^^ I still love this though, shows purely what Zeph is like, perezoso! (Lazy in Spanish)
