Why are they crying?
Mae is crying at the time because she can't take much more. She hates being called
"Anti-social", she hates the words thrown at her every day. Mae always tries to smile,
reminding herself of the quote that Charles Dickens; “We need never be ashamed of
our tears.” Mae simply has been strong, blocking out the thoughts of pain, and has
dealt with her sadness in the only way she can, by releasing it.
