Rules and Forms

This is the Signup Thread for the MistClan RP! Here's where you can post forms for the RP and create your cat.

Rules:
Don't edit the lines unless I give you permission. You can, however, add scars and torn ears.

Natural colours only. If I find a cat with unnatural colours, it cannot be used.

Do not enter the RP until I have approved your cat.

The post must contain the form. Do not post the form in the main thread.

Before you make a cat, bump the thread with the mini-form.

Name your post after your cat and its rank. For example: 'Rosestar (Leader)'

Do not make a high-ranking cat. You have to earn the rank. You can apply for Deputy by putting 'applying for deputy' in the other section of the form. Best form wins the deputy rank.

Do not name a cat after the Clan, or use strange words. 'Miststep' is not usable because the Clan is MistClan. Don't name a cat after words sacred to the cats. 'Moonleap', 'Starclaw' and similar names will not work. And names like 'Shinetree' or 'Diamondsilk' will not work because 'shine' 'diamond' and 'silk' are mostly unknown words to the cats. Make sense.

Have personalities and backstories make sense. Not everyone can be the edgy cat who was beaten and thrown out into the forest to die, or the Firestar who escaped life as a kittypet because of prophetic dreams. Most cats were born and raised in the Clan. Although MistClan is rather inclusive in terms of loners and kittypets, if you're not originally from the clan (again, far and few!) you're probably some loner who stumbled across it and decided to join.

If you were originally a loner, you can have a strange name to a certain extent. MistClan has no wheat in the territory, so a clanborn cat would not be named Wheatfoot. If you were a loner named Wheat, you could be renamed Wheatfoot if you didn't want to be given an entirely new name. But still, even a loner would not be called Iron. Kittypets have to be renamed to clan names, however, because I don't want Lovelyfurs and Hologramstrikes running around.

Although not a rule, I suggest reading all of the RP info posts. If you don't know the RP, there will be confusion.

Please please please know what your name means! If your name doesn't match your cat, I will ask you to change the name or cat.

Break these rules and you will no longer have permission to create cats, and your cats will be invalid. Attempts to bend the rules will be corrected.

RP Details

MistClan

MistClan is the only clan in a large forest. (The lake in the forest map is connected by some rivers to the lake of the four Clans, but it's far enough that they will never meet MistClan unless they travel very far.) There were originally three Clans there (formed by cats who were made into Clans by StarClan after a lot of cats gathered in the forest) but after a series of events, PineClan, SnowClan and CloudClan were destroyed. The remaining cats either ran off into the forest and forgot the Clans through the generations, or banded together, forming MistClan. It was not named after a first leader, but for the fog that fell on the night it was made. The first leader, chosen by the others, was Thrushflight, who became Thrushstar. They gained their nine lives at the Mooncave, a strange cavern containing many quartzes, that the Clans had used for generations. Although they no longer met the Clans in gatherings or fought battles with them, they now had more worries. Cats who had long since forgotten StarClan, and a few that hadn't, living in their territory or attacking them for supplies and homes. Badgers and foxes, living around the Clan. Sickness and struggles, with no other Clan to aid them and only StarClan for guidance. However, now the Clan thrives despite all their setbacks, with a new leader and many strong warriors. There is a bright future for MistClan.

I am not allowing loners, rogues or kittypets, as I want the action to be in one general place. You can however, be a former loner/kittypet who has joined the Clan.

Territory:
The territory is a lake, and the camp is the centermost island, with a forest and a clearing in the center where the dens and Great Tree are located. It is connected to other islands by stepping stones pushed together by the hardworking original cats. There's a section of forest that is theirs, the border marked by a long curving stream that separates some of the forest and makes it look like an island. They own the entire lake, except for the shores, and they do most of their hunting in the water, although many hunt in the forest and islands.

Camp:
In the center of the camp, a huge ancient tree grows, with a large hollow carved into it for the leader to live in. There is a large branch poking from it right above the hole, and to call a meeting the leader leaps or climbs up to the branch. The Clan is built around the tree, as although small holes can be reinforced with moss and stones, large dens are usually very hard to make. However, the tangles of great roots hold open the large, spacious dens. The doors are protected by the roots, crisscrossing around the holes to prevent something large getting in, and they cover them with plants, moss, and leaves to make it look like part of the long grass.
The warriors' den, as the biggest den, is full of roots handing down from the ceiling. The hard ground is made bearable by filling it with soft moss, grass, leaves, and feathers from birds. The apprentices' den is slightly smaller, and padded the same. This den doesn't have many roots, so stones from the lake are pressed into the walls to keep them steady. Next to it is the elders' den, padded extra soft for the resting cats. A thick barrier of roots and moss blocks them from the nursery, where the floor was dug out and packed tight with foliage for the kits to sleep on and play in. Right under the tree is the medicine den, although it it rather deep down. It is the second largest den, filled with herbs, and populated by cats gathering or delivering herbs, helping sick cats, or looking for assistance.
The fresh-kill pile is situated on a clawed-up stump of an old tree cut down by Twolegs long ago. It's big enough for five cats to sit comfortably on it and share tongues, but it is better used for placing food.
