Gillies are hybrids between a canine and a fish.
They have gills along their body that help them breathe and cope with the water pressures in the water.
They are mostly nocturnal animals and depend on mostly their noses when it comes to scavenging for food. There isn't a lot of food on the ocean floor except for some clams and shells, so they mostly live off of those with the help of their strong jaws & teeth. Because their eyesight is terrible, they like to close their eyes to avoid getting the super-salty water into their eyes. It is almost RARE for a Gilly to open their eyes and keep them open. However, a health 2-3 times per day help them adjust their eye movement. But when they're in the sunlight, they almost never open their eyes because the sunlight is too bright for the eyes and can cause eye damage.
To keep their fur all clean, they depend on remoras that help cleanse their fur with their 'suction-shaped' mouths. They will NOT change colors (EX: pink, purple, etc). It is very rare for a remora to change its color, but it is common for a remora to turn a different shade of grey. The remoras have adapted to the high water pressures and will always live with their Gilly until the end.
No one really knows how these strange creatures came or evolved on Earth. Some say, that these creatures have lived for thousands of years near the ocean floor and haven't come up because of oil spills & fishing.
