Once upon a time, in a far off world, a land was united by the magic of four unicorns. Their names were Ari, Mars, Gaia, and Neptune. The world was in harmony, and the four powerful unicorns wanted to keep it that way. But, this came at the price of separation from any contact with the horses that roamed the land. One year, the land suffered extreme weather. It was dire, and the unicorns agreed that they needed to interfere. Ari insisted that they guide the horses to the top of the northern mountains so that they would stay safe from the extreme heat during the days. Mars wanted to take them to western volcanic hotbeds, where they would stay warm in the chills of night. Gaia wanted to take them to the jungle at the southern part of the island, where they horses could be safe from strong winds. Finally, Neptune wanted to take them to the beach and bluffs of the eastern side of the island, where they would never become thirsty. They split up, all deciding to take their own paths. Centuries later, the less powerful unicorn hybrids are using their herd given magic. They will shape the future of the island of Equii.
Modern Day Unicorns:
The modern day unicorns of Equii are often creatures of weak magic. They have the coats of horses, and the brightly colored horns and eyes of unicorns. Their magic is often defined around the boundaries of their herd. An example of this would be that Ari horses often have magic relating to air, such as the weak ability to levitate or the strong ability to control weather. This also ties in to rarities. Common horses have simple abilities and low magic levels. Uncommon horses have stronger magic levels, and more complicated abilities. The strongest horses, usually healers or leaders, have very strong magic levels and extremely strong powers. The unicorns are able to breed with other herds, but often the foal is cast out to be a loner when the herd discovers their magic involves both elements of the parents.

Ari's Herd
These unicorns are the fastest and most agile of any on Equii. The unicorns let their manes grow out to great lengths, and they are said to be some of the most majestic of the land. The males often grow extra tufts of fur around the chin, belly, and leg area. The females never grow this extra hair. They live on top of the northern mountains, where the wind rushes across the top of the tall peaks.
Mars's Herd
The unicorns of this herd are very tough. They maintain many of the unicorns features, including the lion type tail that is often depicted in images. They live on the hot mesa and volcanic hills of the west, so they often have short manes to keep them cool. The males also grow scales when they turn two, as it was mutated when only the males were scouts. Now, any unicorn may be a scout.
Gaia's Herd
Gaia's herd contains unicorns of all types. The unicorns have no different body features than any others. They may grow their manes and tails to any length, though it is common for females to have long manes. The horses of the Jungle are some of the most free spirited of any others.
Neptune's Herd
The unicorns in this herd are known for being very smart. Like Gaia's herd, they may grow out their manes and tails to any length. Many choose to keep their manes and tails short, as they will not get tangled as easily in the water. The eastern beach and bluffs are filled with refreshing waters, so the unicorns often spend their days wading in the cool water.
